May 19th Meeting Speaker

David Horsey, Seattle Times Editorial Cartoonist

The Disappearing Art of Political Cartooning

Two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist David Horsey will be sharing insights and images from his long career at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, The Los Angeles Times and, now, at the Seattle Times. With the business of journalism in sharp decline, Horsey's brand of political commentary is imperiled, but he is exploring new creative outlets, from substack to novel writing. The one thing that is not running out, given current political realities, is material for his cartoons. Horsey will discuss all of that and more.

David Horsey is one of the country's premier political cartoonists. Among his numerous honors are two Pulitzer Prizes and the National Press Foundation's award for cartoonist of the year. He has been cited as one of the 150 most notable graduates of the University of Washington.
