Heads Up! Construction coming next week near the J.
Starting Monday, March 23, the next phase of the North Mercer Island/Enatai sewer upgrade project will commence. King County's contractor crews will begin upgrading the 96th Ave SE siphon under I-90 to improve sewage flow throughout the system, part of a larger project to improve sewer service to Mercer Island. This critical infrastructure project involves open-cut trenching in two areas: the intersection of 96th Ave SE and SE 35th St., and SE 36th St. near City Hall (see map).
Work is expected to last approximately three to four months. Neighbors should anticipate noise and vibrations from excavators, cranes, and saw-cutting. Expect single-lane alternating traffic and short delays in this area. While two-way traffic initially returns after hours, 24-hour lane restrictions will eventually be implemented in active zones. Flaggers will direct traffic, and driveway access for residents will be maintained throughout the work.
Please travel slowly and obey all posted signs and crew directions to ensure everyone’s safety. Visit King County's project page for more information: https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/WAKING/bulletins/40d75f9
