A New Beginning in Udaipur 🌱

Twenty girls supported by the Kiran Anjali Project have been selected for the Udayan Shalini Fellowship in Udaipur. With their induction program now complete, they are ready to begin a new chapter of learning, growth, and opportunity.

Listening, Learning, Encouraging

Bharat Mankani, a donor to the Kiran Anjali Project, recently visited the Shalini Fellowship with his mother. During their visit, they spent time talking with the girls and learning about their lives and education.

The girls spoke about their educational journeys, the challenges they have faced, and what they hope to achieve in the future. For Bharat and his mother, it was a meaningful opportunity to hear directly from the girls, better understand their experiences, and encourage them as they continue their journeys.

A Journey of Aspiration

Daya Laxmi joined the Shalini Fellowship in 2024–25 and is now in her first year of college, pursuing a BSc in Biotechnology.

Coming from a family facing financial constraints, Daya has remained focused on her education. Her father works as a labourer and her mother is a homemaker, and both have supported her dreams. Her father, in particular, has continued to encourage her ambitions.

Daya scored 83% in her Class 12 Board exams, earning distinction in all subjects. Beyond academics, her creativity and confidence earned her first prize during an International Women’s Day celebration.

With a passion for Science, Daya hopes to become a doctor, build a meaningful career, contribute to society, and inspire future generations.

Through the Shalini Fellowship, supported by the Kiran Anjali Project, Daya continues her journey with encouragement and opportunity—showing how resilience, family support, and education can help young women move toward the futures they envision.

📚 A Journey of Determination and Growth

Khushi Kumari is a Class 12 Science student from Phagwara whose family has continued to value education despite financial hardships. Her father earns around ₹8,500 per month as a clothes presser, and with two older brothers also studying, managing school expenses has been a constant challenge.

Even with these difficulties, Khushi remained committed to her education and earned 84.6% in Class 11 through hard work and perseverance.

Joining the Shalini Fellowship, supported by the Kiran Anjali Project, became an important turning point in her journey. The financial support eased the burden of educational expenses, giving her peace of mind to focus on learning.

Beyond financial assistance, Khushi participated in mentoring sessions and workshops that helped her build communication skills, self-confidence, time management, self-discipline, and decision-making abilities. These experiences have prepared her not only for higher education but also for the opportunities ahead.

Today, Khushi is a confident and focused young woman who dreams of pursuing higher education and improving her family's future. Her story reminds us that when young women receive the right support, they can continue their education and work toward their goals with confidence.

During a recent visit to Hyderabad, Divya Mohan, Program Manager – India, had the opportunity to meet the Kiran Anjali Project -funded girls supported through the Shalini Fellowship.

It was meaningful to spend time with them, hear their stories, and see their journeys firsthand. Moments like these remind us of the impact that education and opportunity can create. 🤍

A New Chapter Begins

We are happy to share an update from the Shalini Fellowship expansion into Jaipur and Udaipur.

The Entrance Examination and Personal Interview stages have been completed, and home visits for shortlisted students are nearly complete. The induction process will begin soon as these students prepare to start the next stage of their educational journey.

A Visit That Opened Eyes
Students from Grade 2 at Parikrma Humanity Foundation had the opportunity to visit Saradev Hospital and learn about human anatomy, eye care, and basic medical procedures.

During the visit, they discovered how the eye functions, why limiting screen time is important, and how outdoor activities support healthy vision. They also toured hospital facilities and observed simple diagnostic tests, making learning both engaging and practical.

Experiences like these help students connect knowledge with the world around them.

Throwback Thursday: A Story of Giving Back

This , we're revisiting a Board Member Spotlight from our May newsletter featuring Suzy Khendry.

Suzy Khendry believes strongly in community, connection, and supporting others. Although she was born and raised in the United States, she feels deeply connected to giving back to underprivileged girls in India. Her decision to support the Kiran Anjali Project comes from her belief that a child’s opportunities should not depend on where they are born. Growing up, her parents gave equal opportunities to both her and her brother, and this shaped her belief in the importance of equal opportunity, education and encouragement for every girl.

At an important stage in her life, Suzy chose to step away from a traditional career path to focus on her family and on giving back to causes close to her heart. She and her family believe that educating girls can create positive change in entire communities, and they are raising their sons to value empathy, equality, and service. Through her involvement with KAP, Suzy hopes to continue helping young girls gain confidence, access opportunities, and build brighter futures. She also encourages others to support the mission through volunteering, donating, or spreading awareness.
