The Kiran Anjali Project Invest in educational programs in India to equip girls to define their own destiny. However, there are many grassroots activists working to change this.

Millions of India's children from underserved communities receive a sub-standard education or no education at all. The situation is especially dire for girls from families furthest from economic justice, who are much less likely to be educated and are at risk for exploitation. The Kiran Anjali Project, a U.S.-based nonprofit, links with existing Indian organizations to provide them with grants so that they can serve more children.

Tomorrow is the day!

From Classroom to Career takes place tomorrow, October 4, in Seattle.

Over the past few weeks, we've introduced you to Omkareshwari, Manicharanya, and Akhila. Their journeys show different ways education can continue to shape life after school - from higher education and meaningful work to continued learning and the desire to give back.

Omkareshwari is continuing her studies while working with children. Manicharanya has stepped into the professional world while planning for higher education. Akhila is building her career while continuing to learn and explore new opportunities.

Their paths are different, but each reflects how access to education can continue to open doors beyond the classroom.

From Selection to a New Start

Girls supported by the Kiran Anjali Project in Jaipur have been selected for the Udayan Shalini Fellowship and have completed their induction program.

This marks the beginning of a new phase in their education, personal development, and journey toward future opportunities.

Twenty girls supported by the Kiran Anjali Project have been selected for the Udayan Shalini Fellowship in Udaipur. With their induction program now complete, they are ready to begin a new chapter of learning, growth, and opportunity.

Listening, Learning, Encouraging

Bharat Mankani, a donor to the Kiran Anjali Project, recently visited the Shalini Fellowship with his mother. During their visit, they spent time talking with the girls and learning about their lives and education.

The girls spoke about their educational journeys, the challenges they have faced, and what they hope to achieve in the future. For Bharat and his mother, it was a meaningful opportunity to hear directly from the girls, better understand their experiences, and encourage them as they continue their journeys.

A Journey of Aspiration

Daya Laxmi joined the Shalini Fellowship in 2024–25 and is now in her first year of college, pursuing a BSc in Biotechnology.

Coming from a family facing financial constraints, Daya has remained focused on her education. Her father works as a labourer and her mother is a homemaker, and both have supported her dreams. Her father, in particular, has continued to encourage her ambitions.

Daya scored 83% in her Class 12 Board exams, earning distinction in all subjects. Beyond academics, her creativity and confidence earned her first prize during an International Women’s Day celebration.

With a passion for Science, Daya hopes to become a doctor, build a meaningful career, contribute to society, and inspire future generations.

Through the Shalini Fellowship, supported by the Kiran Anjali Project, Daya continues her journey with encouragement and opportunity—showing how resilience, family support, and education can help young women move toward the futures they envision.
