Love Merced

Love Merced Love Merced began out of the success of Love Modesto. It is way to demonstrate kindness and meet the needs of the community as a whole.

Love Modesto started with two questions back in 2007 – Why is our city on some of the “worst cities in America” lists? What if our churches were to suddenly disappear from the Modesto area, would anyone even care or notice? With a lot of dreaming and planning came March 7, 2009. Over 1,200 people showed up to love our city in practical ways. We’ve done this six more times since adding Love Ceres,

Love Escalon and Love Riverbank in 2011. Over 11,000 people have been a part … young, old, abled, disabled, people from a church or no church at all. Over 38,500 volunteer hours have been donated – at minimum wage, this is over $308,000! At these community wide service days, volunteers engage in a variety of projects such as offering food to the hungry, visiting convalescent homes, donating blood, building a house with Habitat for Humanity and working with the city parks, among other opportunities.

MISSING PERSON AT-RISK

The Merced County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for an adult missing person identified as 22-year-old Sarah Elizabeth Malzahn from Merced. On September 12, 2020, at about 11:30am, Sarah left her volunteer job at the Merced Zoo on a bicycle headed home but never arrived. Sarah was last seen wearing a light blue colored Merced zoo work shirt and Blue jeans. Additionally, Sarah is 5 feet 7 inches tall with brown colored hair and hazel eyes.

Sarah is considered at-risk due to being autistic and mentally delayed. If you have seen Sarah or have any information about her whereabouts, please contact the Merced County Sheriff’s Office at 209-385-7445 or dial 911.

Apologies for such a delay. Due to circumstances we will have to postpone Love Merced. We, as many of you, truly believe in this event and would love to see it continue in our City. At this time we are working to find sponsorship for the event and really encourage leaders to step in and help plan the next event; April 2017. We have so love, and been honored, to be a part of this event! Thank you for your patience and understanding. The page and the emails will be reported to in the coming days. "We are" is very fitting in this time of turmoil. We are all part of something larger than hate. We are responsible for our reactions. We are able to choose to live with love and deny the hate. As long as we remember it is "we" and not "I" we will learn and grow together and find so much more in this world. May you wake on the morning and do something to brighten up the world, even for a moment. ❤
