Empowering the next generation starts here. 💫

Soroptimist of Merced was proud to facilitate two program tracks at the Merced City Schools Young Women’s Conference 2026. One featured Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls® – Overcoming Obstacles.

Through small, facilitator-led groups, students practiced strategies to manage setbacks, handle stress, and face their fears. The goal: build confidence and turn career dreams into reality. 🌟

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing Soroptimist facilitators—Sheilah Brooks, Teri Albrecht, Geri Brown, Amy Taylor, and Judy Newton—for guiding and inspiring these young women.

Dream it. Be it. 💫

One of the sessions at the Merced City Schools Young Women’s Conference, students explored futures through the Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls® program by Soroptimist International of the Americas. With guidance from Soroptimist members Susan Walsh, Chris Long, Lindsay Wyrley-Birch, and Victoria Gomes, participants created Focus Dream Boards—visualizing their career goals, personal growth, and identified steps to overcome challenges.

We were honored to welcome Julianna Stocking, Superintendent of Merced City Schools, who shared inspiring career insights with our students.

On Thursday, we had the privilege of celebrating our 2026 Live Your Dream Award recipients: Victoria, Alyssa, Yolanda, and Kristina. Each of these incredible women inspires us with their determination, resilience, and commitment to pursuing their dreams. Their stories remind us why supporting women on their educational journeys is so important, and they fill us with hope and pride for the future.

The Live Your Dream Awards provide financial assistance to women who are the primary financial support for their families and are working to improve their lives through education and skills training. By helping remove financial barriers, the program empowers women to achieve their goals, create better opportunities for their families, and build stronger communities.

We were also honored to have our community sponsors join us in celebrating these remarkable women.
