*STRUCTURE FIRE*
B1, E51, T51, E52, E53, S53, & E54 responded to the area of W 13th St for reports of a possible structure fire after callers reported smoke and fire across the street. Initial reports indicated there was a possible occupant still inside the structure, prompting an aggressive life safety focused response.
E51 completed a size-up, established command, and initiated a transitional to offensive fire attack with a charged hoseline to control the advancing fire. A primary search was immediately initiated due to reports of a possible occupant inside while additional companies assisted with fire attack, water supply, and exposure protection.
T51 performed vertical ventilation by accessing the roof, sounding the roof, and cutting a ventilation opening over the involved area to release heat and smoke, improve interior visibility, and support interior suppression operations. Coordination between fire attack and ventilation resulted in improved interior conditions and aided crews conducting search and extinguishment.
Interior crews advanced hoselines to the seat of the fire, completed extinguishment, and conducted overhaul to locate and extinguish hidden fire extension. A primary search was completed with no occupants located, followed by a secondary search confirming the structure was clear. Utilities were controlled, salvage and overhaul were completed, and the structure was checked for extension before being turned over for investigation.
