LGBTQ Merced can help folks change name and gender in Merced! IMPORTANT INFORMATION: the Self Help Desk is no longer open for walk-in help. But no worries, one of our volunteers can help go over all the paperwork with you and help file. Luckily, California has made the process easier for us, like you no longer need a note from a doctor, and you can request a new birth certificate all in one step. It's easy!

The Merced Focus put out an article recently highlighting CalPride and Katalina Zambrano, which fails to mention any of the other q***r advocacy orgs in Merced and the work they do presently or have done historically. Our leadership team has decided it is time to speak the truth about CalPride. When CalPride's executive director was arrested for soliciting s*x from minors in 2024, we were silent because we thought CalPride would finally just leave Merced County. But they didn't. They quietly rebranded, and stayed. And continued to be given Merced County money without a competitive process. We think Merced deserves to know. Because it has literally never been said.
