Tonight begins Operation Santa! We'll be in central Merced today, with Merced Police Department leading the way!

The Annual Operation Santa in collaboration with the Merced Golden Lions Club starts on TODAY, December 9th at 6pm. The MPD and Lions will be visiting Central, North, and South areas of Merced with Santa on his sled. Candy canes will be handed out to residents as we navigate throughout the city. Listen for the police sirens!!

Tonight, Merced Golden Lions Club made a donation to Merced Disc Golf Club to support the renovation of sponsoring a new disc golf basket.

This weekend, Merced Golden Lions Club honored our past Lions member who were veterans via Wreaths Across America at the San Joaquin National Cemetery. We miss each of you greatly. Each served our community selfishly. (Missing Lion BA Hansen's photo - Wreath was put at Atwater-Winton Cemetery).

What I remembered most about these individuals were:

Lion Jesse was a jokester and always had a smiling face. He was also a professional eggroll deep-fryer - eggrolls came out crisp and golden. He'd was a frequent volunteer in serving Spaghetti at our Feed the Kids Program at the local Boys & Girls Club.

Lion Carlos chaired the annual Tamales Fundraiser for the local Legion Hall every year. When we hosted our Eggroll to Go Fundraisers, he's be one of the top ticket sellers.

Lion Percy served as our Membership Chair for many years and always called me "young man" with his majestic wisdom. He is also one our recepient of Melvin Jones Award.

Lion BA was our most veteran member, continuing to serve as a Lions Member even past the prime age of 90. He drove everywhere to meetings and events until his health didn't allow him to. He'd participate in Livingston Lions Club annual Sweet Potato Contest and always win in the biggest Sweet Potato category. He'd also be the #1 seller for sponsorship for our district's All-Star Football ads every year.

🎁 Despite the Grinch's mischievous ways, we're turning his visit into an opportunity to do good!
Join us TODAY at our event, and despite his attempts to cause mayhem, let's show the Grinch the true spirit of giving! Bring along a new, unwrapped toy to donate and help us spread joy despite the Grinch's attempts to mess with our event.

Let's turn this mischievous moment into an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children this holiday season. Don't let the Grinch steal our chance to give! See you there!
