Resonanz family!
Hello! It’s obviously been a long time since Resonanz has had anything to say. Covid shut us down in 2020. After a successful 2017 and 2018 season in Willoughby, OHIO at The Fine Arts Association and Andrews Osborne Academy and at Lawrence School in Northfield, OH, we had concerts in the backlot of Skokstudio Vocal Instruction and then there was….Covid.
Covid was a very good time for me, as I discovered my true voice as a Contralto. I had been miscast for many years as a Soprano which is an entirely different story. I am now back out singing professionally as a Contralto. I made three operatic debuts with three different companies in the last twelve months, First Coast Opera, Tulsa Opera, and Mid Ohio Civic Opera. This year brings another operatic debut for me with Opera for Earth this Fall.
Through all of this, I have always known that I not only wanted to help myself but that I’ve always wanted to help other singers, especially Big Voices. In fact, I helped other singers before I helped myself- that’s why Resonanz launched that Big Voices Program which was a real love for me but I also have a second love-to help, support and produce Venerable Voices. That is one reason I formed the VENERABLE, VIBRANT VOICES group here on Facebook. You can join that group!
I am 55 and for whatever reason it took me that long to really find my authentic voice and that’s OK! There are a lot of Venerable Artists out there like me and I want to help them to take charge of their voice and their talent as I have and to fulfill why they were given their voice in the first place!
So, as we move forward, Resonanz will be functioning more as a small production company to help and showcase Voices, with a focus on Venerable Artists.
I’m launching the new form of Resonanz on an April 27, 2024 at 7:30 pm at Disciples Christian Church in Cleveland Heights, OH with my concert singing Wagner and Mahler songs with John Simmons at the piano.
Slowly as we find the funding, Resonanz will help to produce Venerable, talented singers, for the moment only singing a few concerts a year. We will see where it takes us.
Resonanz is a labor of love for me, my charity work for the Arts. I want to thank every singer and especially Venerable Artists who have really hung in there through thick and thin. We all know the journey is not easy, and I salute you.
It’s the singers that hang in there that end up floating to the top in every way. Never quit.
I hope you will come and support this new endeavor with Resonanz at this first concert that I will sing. It’s free, though your donations will help build the funding for the next Venerable concert we will produce. We have found an excellent venue at Disciples Christian Church on Mayfield Road in Cleveland Heights.
See you April 27, 2024 for wonderful Wagner and Mahler that isn’t heard too often in the Contralto voice.
Much love to you,
Heidi Skok
