It is with a very heavy heart to share with our Young Marines family that Bill Sickles, the founder and unit commander of the Greater Lake County Young Marines, passed away unexpected over the weekend. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers.

Details for his celebration of life service will be posted in the next few days.

Did you know that 2024 is the 20th anniversary of our unit? In celebration, we will have an open house on July 13 from 1 - 5p.

Location: Gunny’s Hall, 8720 Twinbrook Drive, Mentor, Ohio.

There will be a 50/50 raffle. Drawing will be held at 4 pm.

On 12.17.22, our unit participated in the national Wreaths Across America event at the Painesville Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville, Ohio. Mr. Cook, unit XO, had the honor of laying the wreath for the Army and Pvt Buck had the honor of laying the wreath for the POW/MIAs. It was cold and a bit windy at times but it was a great experience for the Young Marines and staff honoring those who sacrificed so much for our freedom and the reason we are the Land of the Free Because of the Brave...with many paying the ultimate sacrifice. Good afternoon Young Marines and Parents.
Mr. Erb is board.
So, I am making Japanese Curry Beef.
I am making a LOT. I freeze it and it last a long time and is a good fast meal.
What are you doing today?
PT I hope, and working on your uniform and getting ready for the 19th.
Reading your guide book?
Maybe helping a neighbor out with the snow? That can get you Community Service hours. Just have a Parent take picture and send them to me with how long it took you.
Just for fun I will update my cooking with Photo’s as I go.
I’ll be back in a while.

Good Evening Young Marines and Recruits:

It looks like we are in for a snow day tomorrow. After you make sure you are safe and help your parents/grandparents with whatever they need let's make use of the unplanned free time:

Mr. Erb showed you how your uniform should be squared away (ironing class is in the works)
Mr. Sickles and Miss Shudel discussed your PT goals (how many push-ups have you been doing daily since last drill?)
Mr. Cook had a great boot shining class for you (remember little circles).

Make the most of your free time and we will see how you have all improved in 17 days!

Good Morning Young Marines and Recruits!

Mr. Erb here, Miss Imperatore ask me to pass this along.

Please see the following Power Smoothie recipe we discussed. Feel free to customize to your liking but make sure you include mostly fruits and vegetables for strength and health:

1 ripe banana
1 handful of the following:
strawberries
blueberries
kale
spinach
1 dash of cinnamon
1 small dash of nutmeg
bottled water
almond milk

Add fruits and vegetables with approx. 16 oz. of bottled water and a splash of almond milk. Blend on low and then high for approx. 1 minute. Remember the greener the better for you - enjoy!
