TWO SUMMER ART WORKSHOPS WITH BRADLEY WILSON
Artist/instructor Bradley Wilson is returning to Mentone to lead two weekend classes this summer: June 13-14 and July 18-19.
Workshop Title: HIDDEN IMAGES: Letting Images Find You
In these exciting workshops, you'll explore pareidolia—the human tendency to find images in unexpected places. Using acrylic paint, watercolor, inks, and drawing media, participants will experiment with layered marks and playful processes while discovering how accidental shapes can develop into surprising imagery. Creating with a sense of play is key to this type of art-making.
The workshop are designed as both a standalone experience and a two-part creative journey. Each weekend offers a complete and satisfying introduction to intuitive image-making, and students are welcome to attend either session independently.
For those who choose to attend both weekends, the second session builds naturally on the first. Returning students will be encouraged to work with greater complexity—developing more layered compositions, refining emerging imagery, and deepening their personal visual language—while new participants are fully supported in beginning their own process.
All experience levels are welcome; curiosity and openness to experimentation are essential.
Tuition is $195 per workshop plus instructor supply fees. To register, please call 256-674-3366 or email [email protected] and leave you phone number.

We had to bring our annual seniors fish fry indoors because of the rain, but it was a fun day. Thank you to all the MERF: volunteers as well as Charlie and Al Watt and Kevin Dunlap and Bryce Barrett from Elevation Bistro for cooking a delicious meal.

Ordinary Elephant Show CANCELLED!

Unfortunately, tonight's show featuring Ordinary Elephant is cancelled.

From Pete of Ordinary Elephant: Friends, we’re gutted to report that tonight’s show at the Mentone Arts Center in Mentone AL is cancelled. We had to get an emergency repair on our van this morning, and did our best to try to get back on the road in time to make the show, but despite all of our efforts, it’s not quite fixed yet and we’re waiting for another evaluation. We’re so sorry. We’ll figure out a date to come back as soon as we can! 😢”

The arts center will be reimburse those who purchased tickets. We will have more information on the process on Monday.

We apologize for any inconvenience!

The Texpats are a Nashville-based trio featuring Grace Pettis (Austin), Natalie Price (Fort Worth), and Rachel Laven (San Antonio) – three acclaimed singer-songwriters who each built their careers in Texas before finding themselves under the same roof in Nashville.
Blending three-part vocals, masterful storytelling, and a shared lineage in the Texas songwriting tradition, The Texpats bring the spirit of back porch song swaps to the stage. Individually seasoned artists with years of touring and recording under their belts, they now join forces to perform each other’s songs alongside a few handpicked covers, offering audiences an intimate, powerful experience rooted in friendship, resilience, and the enduring pull of home.
