The Winnebago Group Home was awarded a grant from the SECURA Insurance Companies Charitable Fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region last July.

Because of this donation, the Winnebago Group Home was able to use the funds to support the purchase of outdoor recreational equipment to help create safe and engaging opportunities for at-risk youth to play, move and connect this summer.

Access to consistent recreation supports physical health, emotional regulation and social development, which are all key components of building resilience and promoting long-term well-being.

The following items were purchased for outdoor recreation at the Winnebago Group Home with these grant funds:

🚲5 new bicycles
⛑️Multiple bike helmets
🏀Permanent basketball hoops with balls (basketballs and footballs)
🎲Several outdoor games such as Bocce Ball, Kan Jam Disc Toss, Cornhold Boards, Yardzee, Throwing Discs, Nerf Balls, Slammo and a golf set.
🪑Camping chairs

Alex joined the Community Based Services team in July 2026. Alex's personal journeys are what drew him to this line of work. Because of that, he has developed a strong desire to support others, listen without judgement and help people recognize their circumstances do not have to define their futures. Additionally, Alex furthered his expertise by obtaining his bachelor's in psychology from UW-Stout and an associate's in criminal justice from Chippewa Valley Technical College.
