In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness month I would like to mention our grandson Jackson Carr .
He was diagnosed with Leukemia and has been in treatment at OSF Children's Hospital in Peoria since last October.
The shock and heartache of this diagnosis comes back to us whenever we hear of another child that has been diagnosed. At 16yrs. old Jackson started this long journey and has been fighting with strength, courage, patience and a wonderful attitude. He has endured some of the most aggressive treatment, accepting what needed to be done without complaining! He is my hero! ♥️ His parents, my daughter Laura and her husband Andy have been so devoted, staying right by his side through it all. I think of that first month that he was in the hospital, only parents were allowed to go in. They both stayed with him 24/7 in the beginning then took turns so one could be with the other children at home while never leaving Jackson alone. This wonderful town of Mendota that we live in, came together with food, daily, for weeks, donations, ladies that cleaned their house (Mel 💕), people and churches leading prayer groups for him and the family and the local high school that has been so caring. The radio call letters in this town are WGLC, (World's Greatest Little City), which has taken on a whole new meaning for this family. He was in treatment 3 days a week in Peoria since Oct. 2021 until school started this year, now on a maintenance program once a month. Jackson is doing good now but not without a Miracle from God. Without His Holy Intervention I'm not sure where we would be. We just want parents and children afflicted with childhood cancer to know there is hope ...always! The shed Blood of Jesus was not only for our Salvation but for our Healing as well.
With God's Presence I don't think any of us could have gotten through one day. So many have asked how Jackson's doing and with his permission I wanted to give an update. Some of these pictures show what it was like in the beginning for Jackson and how he is now. Please keep him and our family in your prayers while we keep the battle going as we win this war! In the words of my son in law Andy....
"God is Great!"
He is Great always... no matter what!
Please keep Jackson's fellow classmate David, in prayer, as he prepares a battle of his own from a recent diagnosis.
No child fights alone!!!
God Bless this town, OSF Children's Hospital and all the prayers, as well as from friends from my hometown, that go straight to the Throne of God. Be Blessed!!
