Join ON SET CINEMA this fall in Mendocino, California at “The Colony” ...aka historic Mendocino Woodlands Camp for an epic 45th Anniversary, full-weekend celebration for one of the most terrifying werewolf films ever made ...”THE HOWLING.”

Happening Friday, September 25 - Sunday, September 27, 2026 at the actual filming location that doubled as “The Colony” where Karen & Bill's cabin and Eddie & Marsha Quist's cabin still stand today ...tucked deep within the redwoods forest that brought “The Howling” to life.

Fans will enjoy a full weekend at this retreat - a nostalgic throwback camp experience complete with shared cabin lodging, crackling campfires with ghost stories and s’mores, werewolf movie screenings, optional hiking adventures, and more!

You’ll be able to visit Karen and Bill’s actual cabin, where the howling begins and Bill’s fate is sealed with a werewolf bite that sets his transformation in motion. You’ll also explore Eddie and Marsha Quist’s cabin, the setting for one of the film’s most intense and unforgettable attacks.

On Saturday night, beneath a glowing full moon, we’ll gather under the towering redwoods for an unforgettable outdoor screening of “THE HOWLING”!

It’s been a banner year for mushrooms! 🍄‍🟫
We had to share with you a few of our fun finds at the park.

Mendocino Woodlands Camp Association is a California state park partner charged with the operation and maintenance of this remarkable national historic landmark since 1949. The park offers exceptional group camping, outdoor education programs and miles of forested hiking/biking trails.

It’s the quiet time at camp! The forest is a carpet of gold from this year’s redwood branchlets and the Little North Fork is running full and wild…waiting for our finned friends to make their run for home.
Our work continues with new foot bridges and cabin floors, camp kitchen remodels, and preparing the students for their visit in the spring. Sending the peace of our historic redwood park to you all!

It’s all hands on deck for Wilderness First Aid weekend at the woodlands. Even our kindly neighbors jumped into action with a garden bouquet for the registration table. Thank you to everyone who has helped out!
