I am happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability on this.
I was not on the, now dissolved, restoration committee for which I have been volunteering to run social media and plan events.

Through Artist Initiative of Menard (AIM) we will continue in our efforts to reinvigorate, highlight, support, and help the arts culture in our community thrive.

The theatre has always been at the pinnacle of this movement, but we do realize there are many ways to do this even if the building is not involved.

From my perspective, the lack of progress on this has as much to do with the inability for the different boards and involved people to come to a common and supported vision together. This is necessary for a project of this magnitude to achieve its goals.

We are hopeful that whoever does end up with the building will be supportive and part of our efforts as the end goal for us has always been to enrich the community in a positive way by bringing awareness of the importance of the arts to our lives.

Thank you!
I appreciate all the time and energy folks have brought forth in support of the theatre restoration.

Are you looking to own a little piece of the Free State? If so, your time has come! The historic 1927 Menard Mission Theatre will soon be available for purchase. The Theatre has been under the umbrella of the Menard Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) since 2015. After those 7 years, and many....

We are just one day away from our fundraising show Ranching Woes and Joys.
We could not be more excited to share in this special event with you all.
It is such an honor to have the chance to showcase Jake Landers and his collection of poetic wisdom for this cause.

I just want to take this chance to mention the amazing folks coming together to make this possible.
This is 100% a homegrown event.

Food service and chili are coming from local beef raisers Five Mile Meats.
Baked goods are from Texas Scratch Kitchen (Amie Prest).
T-shirts were printed by JK Jewelry, Awards, & Designs.
Logo work by Haleigh Cutrer.
Hay bales from Von Roll Farm.
Our musicians Roy Brown, Geer Gillespie, Logan Bell, Kathy Mews, and Luke Johanson.

Special thanks to Don Kerns and the Menard City employees for your help making this all an easy process!

Jake Landers and his collection of poetry will be the highlight of our event on Sunday, November 7th.
Jake’s mother, Emmy Luckenbach Landers, was sister to Sophie Luckenbach Reeve, who was married to Henry Reeve.
As many of you know, the Reeves were the original owners and long time operators of our beloved theatre.

Here is a theatre memory Jake shared with us-

“When I was about school age we had a Halloween party at the country school and our hired hand took a bunch of us kids to the midnight movie. I had to borrow 13 cents to get in and I was terrified the whole time with Frankenstein and hid behind the seats. It wasn’t worth 13 cents.”

Do you have a memory of the theatre?
Please share!
