The Foundation performs all acts necessary for the development, growth, expansion, progress, accomplishment of educational objectives, development of the physical plant, improvement of faculty and staff, and aid student body and alumni of Rich Mountain Community College. The Rich Mountain Community College Foundation was established to promote the interest and welfare of Rich Mountain Community Co
llege by aiding and extending the work and activities of the College. The Foundation believes that philanthropy is the initiative which occurs when people respond to needs with a desire to affect positive change. Philanthropy has been defined as "the love for mankind." At RMCC, philanthropy is a comprehensive process based on an exchange of values and is larger than money raising or money giving. We articulate our mission in ways that invite donors to participate in programs that mirror their values, preserve their interests, meet their needs for recognition, and satisfy their desire to improve the quality of life in our community. We believe donors want to invest in RMCC's future, not its past or present. Our plan allows donors to help in the fulfillment of dreams and plans, assuring continued quality and personal loving care into the future. To that end, we encourage gifts to endowment funds so that earnings may be used in perpetuity in the area of the donor's designation. We believe it is the duty of the Foundation Board to guarantee the integrity of Foundation funds and donor intent. We believe in the importance of saying thank you. Every gift is received with respect and recognition. Each donation is acknowledged through a personal letter. We respond to donors with timely reports. We believe that ethics, confidentiality, and donor relationships are important. We believe in addressing real problems to enable people and programs in improving and flourishing. We believe that the Foundation should direct gifts and grants toward projects that demonstrate to donors and the community that their investment is vital to the college in an extraordinary way. We believe that Trustees, Foundation Board members, staff, volunteers, and friends should support the college as an example for individuals, corporations, and other foundations.
