The future of the hardwood industry starts with education and hands-on experience.

When students have the opportunity to explore hardwood firsthand, they begin to see more than lumber - they discover skilled careers, advanced manufacturing, and an industry with lasting impact.

Over this summer, students from Gurdon High School toured NHLA's Inspector Training School, where they explored hardwood species, learned about lumber grading, and experienced the value of hands-on learning. By the end of the visit, several students expressed interest in pursuing careers in the industry.

Workforce development starts by creating opportunities to learn, ask questions, and experience the industry firsthand.
