ties. The One and Only benefit proponents claim to justify adding fluoride chemicals to our local water is an overall decrease of cavities in children. However, the light of day has shone on this fallacy as studies done by the World Health Organization (WHO) prove cavities are decreasing all over the world at the same rate in fluoridated and non fluoridated countries alike. This data is thought to prove that decreased dental decay is more attributed to the better availability of proper dental hygiene and increased nutrition, NOT Fluoridation Chemicals. Pro-fluoridationist purport ONLY ONE benefit of exposure to fluoride chemicals in drinking water, reduction of cavities. Yet, the health risks associated with ingestion of fluoride chemicals to humans is widely documented and overall far outweigh the benefit of less dental decay. People are warned in the most obvious places in plain sight. Simply look to the back of your fluoride toothpaste tube and read the warning. The warning states "If swallowed call Poison Control immediately." The studies to support this warning are vast. One only needs to do a little research to find the truth. Please note there is the same amount of fluoride chemicals in a large glass of water as is in one dab of fluoride toothpaste. The bottom line is that without citizen activists working at the local level, we will lose this crucial battle for cleaner and healthier fluoride-free drinking water. Fluoridation is one of the easiest health problems to eradicate and we have the cure! It requires only a turn of the wrist at our utility companies to end it. To turn it off, we need to be ENGAGED people ready to EXERCISE our CIVIC AUTHORITY to take back our right to SAFETY as outlined in our State Constitution.
