Spreading Sunshine

Spreading Sunshine Nationally, Spreading Sunshine sends Sunshine Boxes to children facing medical challenges and provides year-round support to families in our Year of Sunshine.

In Memphis, we partner with local hospitals to provide non-medical services for families. Spreading Sunshine began with one family who faced their son David’s diagnosis of Down Syndrome at birth. David’s mom, Abigail, was touched by the kindness and compassion she was shown during the many weeks in the hospital. She saw the needs of other families in the hospital who didn’t have support and wanted

to do something. When David (nicknamed “Sunshine” by his sister) was a year old she sent the very first “Sunshine Box” to a young girl who was having heart surgery. When others heard about what Abigail had done, they wanted to help. The idea went viral and Spreading Sunshine began. David and his family sparked a movement of care, compassion, and kindness.

God cares for birds and lilies, so He will care for you. If God watches over the birds in the sky and clothes the lilies in beauty, imagine how tenderly He cares for you. 🤍

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow… your heavenly Father knows your needs.”
Matthew 6:26–34

Let go of worry today. Rest in His care.

We are so grateful for churches like New Hope Christian Church, which continue to come alongside families in crisis through the mission of Spreading Sunshine. 💛

Partnerships like this remind us that ministry was never meant to be done alone. Through serving, giving, praying, and showing up for families in practical ways, New Hope Church is helping bring hope and encouragement during some of life’s hardest moments.

Thank you for believing in this mission and for helping families feel seen, loved, and supported.

Take a moment to hear their heart and why this partnership matters. ☀️

Behind every hospital visit, every family check-in, every meal delivered, and every moment of care… there’s someone helping families feel seen, supported, and loved.

Meet Gina, our Family Care Director at Spreading Sunshine. 💛

From walking alongside parents during long hospital stays to helping create moments of comfort in the middle of crisis, Gina leads with compassion, presence, and a heart to serve families well.

The work may not always be visible, but the impact is felt deeply by the families we have the privilege to care for every day.

You don’t have to carry it all alone. Every worry, every weight, every unanswered question—He invites you to place it in His hands.

“Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
1 Peter 5:7

Let go. You are deeply cared for.

When circumstances try to shake you, hold tighter to hope. Not because life is easy, but because God is faithful.

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised us is faithful.”

Hebrews 10:23

The promise still stands. And so can you.
