September is Rotary’s Basic Education & Literacy Month!
The Rotary Club of Memphis Central will resume our bi-weekly meeting schedule in September! Please note: We will not meet on September 4th in observance of Labor Day.

We will return on September 18th with an engaging and informative program featuring fellow Rotarian Anecia Washington, Ed. S., CE/OGA, CALT, LDT, Director/Lead Dyslexia Therapist with Washington Learning Solutions.

Our club looks forward to learning together, increasing awareness, and exploring ways we can continue making a difference through Rotary.

As President Shirley Dunn closes one remarkable chapter and begins another as Vice President of the Rotary Club of Memphis Central, we invite you to watch this video featuring President Dunn's recap as she reflects on an incredible Rotary year.

President Dunn's Rotary theme, "United for Good – Boots on the Ground," was more than just a motto—it became the heartbeat of our club. Through collaboration, service, and a shared commitment to making a difference, our members proved that when Rotarians unite with purpose, incredible things happen.

President Dunn also recognized two outstanding leaders for their dedication and service. Outgoing Vice President Rotarian Shera Cantrell was honored with the Distinguished Service Citation in recognition of her exceptional service to both the club and the community. Secretary Rotarian Anecia Washington was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for her faithful service and commitment throughout the Rotary year.

Thank you, President Dunn, for your vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self. Your leadership has left a lasting mark on the Rotary Club of Memphis Central, and we are grateful that your journey with us continues. Thank you for leading with heart. Thank you for keeping your boots on the ground. And thank you for reminding us that we truly are United for Good. 💙💛

What a BIG day for the Rotary Club of Memphis Central!

Today's meeting was filled with celebration, fellowship, and exciting new beginnings! We proudly welcomed and inducted TWO new Rotarians, Clemetee W. and Dylan P., into our Rotary family. And also celebrated the official Passing of the Gavel, as we expressed our heartfelt gratitude to our outgoing President, Rotarian Shirley Dunn, for her outstanding leadership during the 2025–2026 Rotary year.

We are equally excited to welcome our incoming President, Rotarian Langston Lee, and look forward to an incredible year under his leadership. Special thanks to our Assistant District Governor, Rotarian Sandra Walls, for sharing inspiring words and support as President Lee begins this new chapter.

As if that wasn't enough, we also celebrated the birthday of one of our cherished longtime members, Rotarian Patricia Milan-Shores! Thank you for your years of dedicated service and unwavering commitment to Rotary.

This Rotary year has been a truly fantastic journey, and we're excited to see what the new year has in store as we continue making a difference in our community.

The Rotary Club of Memphis Central concluded its Youth Services month by hosting a ceremony where the RCMC Charitable Foundation presented awards to the 2026 Scholarship Finalists of The Leroy Dahler Character Achievement Scholarship Awards and the Annual High School Scholarships Awards. Eight finalists, four from each award, were selected by the foundation's committee. Congratulations to all recipients.

The Rotary Club of Memphis Central recently had the pleasure of reading to K-2 students at Wi******er Elementary School - MSCS, an honor for our members. We valued our time spent with the students. We hope to continue fostering literacy, mentorship, and community engagement, upholding Rotary's mission of Service Above Self.
