Last Friday, Team JA was back on the course for this year’s Memphis-Shelby County Schools - MSCS golf tournament, showing our support for the district’s student athletes and the incredible community that lifts them up. ⛳️

Huge thanks to Kedrick Malone from FedEx (and our legendary JA Bowl‑a‑Thon DJ!) and Dr. Jason Glick from Schilling Farms Dental for joining our own Phil Dotson and Julie Olsen to help represent Junior Achievement and champion opportunities for students across our community.

We’re grateful for partners who show up for students — on the course, in the classroom, and across the career‑connected pathways that prepare young people for what’s next. We're proud to work with MSCS, helping students build confidence, connect learning to real‑world opportunity, and explore the incredible possibilities their futures cans hold.

There’s something special about watching students realize they belong in the room, on the stage, and in the conversations shaping the future. 📈

After earning first place in our regional Stock Market Challenge, Team 901Spunk from Southwind High School made history as the first-ever team to represent Memphis and the Mid-South at Future Bound by Junior Achievement National Stock Market Challenge in Boston.

Competing against top teams from across the country, these students brought the grit and determination of the 901 to the national stage. The experience extended far beyond competition, giving students the opportunity to learn from business leaders, connect with peers from across the country, and explore the opportunities their futures can hold.

Cedric, London, Mark, and Markaleb showed what it means to lead with courage, represent with heart, and open doors for those who come next. And we couldn't be more proud.

A huge thank you to Wells Fargo and the Donnell Cobbins, Jr. Futures Trust for supporting these students from regional competition all the way to Boston, and to our friends at Choose901 for helping them showcase their Memphis pride.

The courage to compete today becomes the confidence to lead tomorrow.

Thanks to the generous support of Kinder Morgan, Mid-South students are engaging in STEM learning experiences through Junior Achievement.

In programs like JA BizTown and the JA Inspire Career Exploration Fair, students are stepping into STEM‑focused roles, experimenting with problem‑solving, and seeing how science, technology, engineering, and math fuel the industries that keep our region moving. These hands‑on experiences help students build durable skills, explore career‑connected pathways, and discover how their strengths can lead to what’s next.

Thank you, Kinder Morgan, for helping us inspire future innovators and open more doors to STEM opportunity for students across the Mid‑South.

Today, Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South turns 71. As we celebrate another birthday, we're also closing the chapter on an absolutely incredible 70th anniversary year.

Over the past 12 months, we celebrated 70 years of empowering young people with the knowledge, durable skills, and confidence to step into what's next. Along the way, we gathered with students, volunteers, alumni, educators, partners, board members, staff, and friends who share our belief in the boundless potential of the next generation.

Our anniversary year reminded us that JA has always been about more than a milestone. It is a community of people committed to opening doors, expanding possibilities, and helping make .

We closed out the celebration the same way we started it: with birthday cake from Muddy's Bake Shop and a room full of people who care deeply about our mission. And we were reminded just how grateful we are for everyone who has helped shape our story.

To our 70th Anniversary Committee, Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, partners, alumni, supporters, and friends: thank you for making this milestone year so meaningful. Your investment in students today is helping build the workforce, leaders, and entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

Here's to 71 years of impact—and to the future we're building together.

As we wrap up this chapter of JA Letters to Myself: Hometown Heroes, we couldn't imagine a better story to close with.

In our final episode of this season, Greg Duckett, Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of Baptist Memorial Health Care, writes to his younger self about dreaming beyond what was in front of him—and believing that more was possible.

Growing up in a low-income Memphis neighborhood, Greg didn't have a roadmap to many of the opportunities that would later shape his life. Yet through education, hard work, mentors, and a willingness to keep moving forward, he became a trailblazer in law, government, and health care leadership.

“You didn’t have the opportunity to dream beyond what you saw on a daily basis, yet you did.”

That's why exposure matters. When students can see pathways they didn't know existed and connect with leaders who have walked them, new possibilities begin to take shape.

Thank you for joining us throughout this season of Letters to Myself. We hope these stories continue to inspire students to dream bigger, explore what's next, and build futures of their own.

Helping students see what's possible is at the heart of our mission. Explore the pathways waiting for you at connect.ja.org.

As the school year wraps up, one thing is clear: students need learning that feels relevant, engaging, and connected to their future. And while summer is here, it’s never too early to start thinking about what’s next.

At Junior Achievement, we partner with educators to turn “what’s next” into real‑world experiences for K-12 students. Through hands‑on learning and connections with local professionals, students don’t just learn. They see where they’re headed, building confidence, critical skills, and a stronger sense of what’s possible.

We’re proud to work alongside schools as a trusted partner in making learning more meaningful and future-focused.

As you head into summer, let’s start building what’s next—together.
