MEMFix A BLDG M series of community events designed to rethink and activate streets and vacant storefronts. It gives visitors the experience of what that place can be.

MEMFix is a community-led revitalization effort byn BLDG Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee. It is a temporary showcase of what a dynamic, walkable neighborhood could look like with pop-up shops; activated storefronts; vibrant public spaces; bicycle and pedestrian-friendly streets; and engaging activities for visitors. MEMFix is a relatively low-cost, low-risk trial design that shows the potential of a
neighborhood.

15 years ago, Broad Ave. proved what can happen when a community takes change into its own hands.

A New Face for an Old Broad started as a neighborhood experiment: storefronts became pop-ups, artists filled windows, and the street came alive. That spark ignited MEMFix, a citywide movement for tactical urbanism and community-led revitalization.

This weekend’s celebration at the Broad Ave. Art Walk reminded us why we do this work: because small, local actions can create lasting citywide change.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared memories, and helped us honor 15 years of fixing places together.

Before MEMFix was a movement, it was an idea, and it all started on Broad Avenue.

15 years ago, A New Face for Old Broad showed what happens when neighbors, artists, and small businesses come together to reimagine their street. In just one weekend, vacant storefronts turned into pop-ups, sidewalks filled with people, and a spark of possibility lit up Memphis.

That spark became MEMFix, and the spirit of fixing places together lives on in every neighborhood we touch.

Stop by the BLDG Memphis Mobile Porch in front of Uncle Reds Saturday, November 1 from 11:00-3:00 during the Broad Ave. Art Walk to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of A New Face for an Old Broad. Catch up with those who made this project possible, grab some candy and beads, and share your Broad Ave. and MEMFix stories! We will take a group picture at 1:00!

The Tennessee Department of Transportation will begin replacing as set of four 50-year old bridges over Interstate 240 in East Memphis next month in a $54.1 million project that will mean up to 12 weekends when the interstate is completely shut down from the I-40/I-240 split to the I-40/Tn 385 split...
