Congratulations to Q4 Leadership awardee Shannon Medlin! Shannon serves as the Finance Manager for Parks and has been a valued member of the team for the past four years. ⭐️

She manages the division’s budget and oversees all financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, forecasting, and contracts. 📊

Shannon earned her bachelor’s degree in Marketing Management from the University of Memphis and later completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Accounting from Western Governors University.

She enjoys using her financial expertise to support the growth and success of Memphis Parks and the community it serves. 💚

The Memphis Parks Literacy Meets Recreation Program held its Publishing Project Class of 2026 Official Book Launch earlier this month at the Douglass Community Center. Congrats to all our youth authors, ages 5–16, on the launch of their books and for being inducted into the Memphis Parks Young Authors Guild! 🎉

We also debuted Once Upon a Memphis Story, a collection of short stories and poems written by Lit Meets Rec participants, serving as the official book for Summer Camp 2026. 📚

Only a few spots remain for our fourth annual High School 7-on-7 Football Tournament, hosted by the Memphis Parks Athletics Department! This year’s event will also feature a Big Man Camp. Registration is limited to the first 18 teams. 🏈

Registered teams will have the opportunity to send three linemen to participate in the Big Man Camp, a combine-style environment featuring skill development and competitive evaluation.

Coaches, register your team to compete for FREE on Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Walter May Park! The winning team will receive a $1,500 equipment voucher.
