The work of trans justice goes beyond any election cycle. Our communities must stay in formation, connected and rooted in fostering change. Welcome to our table, a site for deep connection, healing and political education.

Join us for "Get In Formation: Resistance Lessons From Emerging Grassroots Organizing" on June 4, 1pm to 2pm EST! In this session, attendees will hear directly from visionaries representing newer formations and their recipes for getting free!

TJFP’s bread and butter is seeding emergence and showing up for grassroots organizations, groups, and entities that don’t have access to traditional funding and philanthropic infrastructures yet are making a way out to better the lives of trans communities.

These groups provide some of the most life-saving and life-affirming work to trans people, and TJFP wants to be on the frontlines of seeing and resourcing their emergence.

This vision goes beyond housing. We are creating:
• Emergency shelter for immediate safety
• Permanent housing for long-term stability
• Community space rooted in care, organizing, and mutual support

For so many in our community, affirming housing can mean the difference between crisis and survival. This project is our commitment to building something lasting for Black trans people in Memphis.

Every donation, every share, every supporter helps move this vision closer to reality.

Because when we build for the most marginalized, we build stronger communities for everyone. Text MSH to 26989 to support this vital community centered work.

She built the first transgender cultural district in the United States. From the ground up. ✨

NBJC is proud to celebrate Janetta Johnson as a 2026 Audre Lorde Wisdom Award Honoree.

Janetta serves as CEO of the Miss Major Alexander L. Lee TGIJP Black Trans Cultural Center and is the founding force behind the Transgender District — the first transgender cultural district in the United States. For decades she has led work supporting LGBTQ+ people of color returning home from prisons, jails, and other systems of confinement, fighting tirelessly to ensure Black trans people have access to safety, resources, and the freedom to simply exist.

This Saturday, May 16th at 1 PM EST, join us virtually to honor and every honoree who fought for our community when it cost them something. 🖤

Tune in live HERE and subscribe to our YouTube.

Sistahood: A Story of Strength screened this past Saturday at the Comfrey Film Festival, and we’re beyond honored to have received the People’s Choice Award

This moment belongs to a powerful collective. Deep thanks to our incredible cast Michelle Anderson, Lucretia Springer, Vanity Reid Deterville, and Tori Cooper for bringing truth, depth, and brilliance to this story.

Endless appreciation to our production team, especially Millennium Media Label, Jesica Chaney for her visionary direction, and to Joie Lou for creating such an affirming and necessary space for Black trans artists and creatives to thrive.

We’re grateful for everyone who showed up, supported, and poured into this moment. Especially for lending her voice alongside . This is what community looks like and we’re just getting started. Link in bio!

Tonight, on Transgender Day of Visibility, we’re gathering in a time when simply existing openly is an act of courage. In this political climate, visibility isn’t just symbolic, it’s about protecting each other, building power, and celebrating the wins our community continues to create. 🏳️‍⚧️
