#𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙘 🎶 After years of hard work, we FINALLY have a light at the end of the tunnel for the Mud Island Amphitheater coming back to life! Council JB Smiley Jr., Councilwoman Jana Swearengen-Washington, and Councilwoman Yolonda Cooper-Sutton put forward a resolution in the city's 2027 budget to fund the repairs needed to bring the amphitheater up to ADA standards after a contractor submitted a bid for $96,000 to repair it based on necessary items outlined by an ADA consultant hired by the city. These repairs will allow for the planned "Comeback Concert Series" and other future activations to move foward!

This past Tuesday, the resolution was adopted and included in the now approved city budget!

Next steps? Glad you asked! Next the funds will be distributed to Memphis River Parks and are earmarked for these repairs specifically. DNA President Jerred Price & Memphis River Parks President Paul Chandler will work on the proposed plan for activation and start coordinating with the city to ensure the repairs take place in a timely fashion.

Additionally, we will be planning our next public event where we will outline the next steps to bring this venue back to life! This meeting will be a chance to see our proposed activation plan, sign up to volunteer, and sign up to be a SPONSOR! So stay tuned for the event announcement which will include date, time and registration link.

We hope to see this all completed and our first event in Spring 2027!

🎶 All over the country, brand new outdoor amphitheater’s are popping up in cities both small & large. There’s no excuse that one of America’s greatest music cities - MEMPHIS - doesn’t have a world-class amphitheater on our riverfront. We aim to change that!

Join the Downtown Neighborhood Association for a free, family-friendly extravaganza happening Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Tom Lee Park.

Enjoy three stages of live music, savor food from local vendors, and explore games and activities suitable for all ages. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for a night of community and celebration that concludes with a dazzling drone show and fireworks display over the Mississippi River at 9:00 PM.
