A message about traffic upticks around the UM primary schools, which start back Wednesday (8/5).
We can't make them stop saying "Campus School Kimball is located in Sherwood Forest," so don't burn daylight bothered by it- it's two neighborhoods SOUTH of Sherwood Forest in Sharpe-Dunn, but otherwise it's all gravy and we're thrilled to welcome back this year's incoming scholars!!!
Dear Campus Community,
University Schools will begin the 2026–27 school year on Wednesday, Aug. 5. As students and families return to campus, there will be an increase in traffic during daily drop-off and pick-up times. Traffic patterns related to each school are included below for your reference and planning.
Early Learning and Research Center
● Drop-off is at 8 a.m., with traffic flowing from Deloach and Conlee through the Central lots. This traffic pattern is expected to have minimal impact on campus.
Zach Curlin/Campus School
● Morning drop-off times are 7:30–8 a.m.
● Pick-up begins at 3 p.m.
● Extended Learning programs dismiss groups throughout the evening until 6 p.m.
Additional congestion is expected along Zach Curlin during arrival and dismissal, with a stationed officer during the morning hours and crossing guards on Walker. Please drive slowly through the impacted streets and exercise caution when exiting nearby parking lots and garages. Please also note the crosswalk on Zach Curlin and monitor your speed through the designated school zone. Campus School families have been reminded not to block access to lots, parking garages or streets along this route to ensure continued access to the interior of campus.
Fogelman Drive/Orgel Educational Center
● Morning drop-off times are 7:15–8 a.m.
● Pick-up begins at:
3 p.m. for University High School
3:30 p.m. for University Middle School
● Extended Learning programs dismiss groups throughout the evening until 6 p.m.
Additional congestion is expected along Veterans and Fogelman Drive during peak arrival and dismissal times, with a stationed officer supporting pedestrian crossing along Fogelman. Please be mindful of students and families crossing Central Avenue during these times. University Middle and University High School families have been reminded not to block access to lots, parking garages or streets along this route.
Campus School Kimball
Campus School Kimball is located off campus in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood. As a result, it should not impact main campus traffic patterns. We are excited to continue welcoming Campus School Kimball students, families, faculty and staff as part of our University Schools community.
Our University Schools are an integral part of the comprehensive programs and services offered at the University of Memphis. Our leadership team has developed arrival and dismissal plans designed to minimize disruption, maximize safety and meet the needs of students, families, faculty, staff and the broader campus community.
