This is an article in a special issue that Denise G. Burgher and I are editing, titled Meeting at the Crossroads: Understanding the Intersection of Rhetoric, Race, and Religion. Nicole Danielle McDonald advocates using rhetorical theology as a dynamic pedagogical framework to foster deeper understanding and dialogue around the contentious subjects of s*x and s*xuality. Rhetorical theology is grounded in four essential assumptions: the concept of faithful persuasion, the ramifications of doctrinal beliefs, the significance of contextuality, and the role of the rhetor’s invitation in discourse.
