Precious in His Sight is a sidewalk counseling team made up of men and women of all ages that offers to talk to women on the sidewalk outside abortion clinics who are considering an abortion. We have three abortion clinics in the Memphis area that are within really close proximity to each other. The three clinics are Planned Parenthood, Memphis Area Medical Clinic for Women, and Choices. Abortions
are available every day of the week in Shelby County, except Sunday. Each person walking into the clinic is facing a crisis pregnancy and a difficult situation. The truth about abortion is shared along with the message that Jesus loves the woman and her baby she is carrying. We tell them about the development of the baby and give them literature showing the truth about the abortion procedure. Many babies are saved through these people who lovingly and legally stand on the sidewalk to offer love and support to an abortion minded woman. Shelby County alone has over 8,240 abortions each year. There are many days that the women who change their minds about an abortion hug the neck of a sidewalk counselor and thank them for being there for them that day. We refer to the women who have left the abortion clinic as a "turnaway" as they turn away from death to LIFE for their baby. When possible and if the girl is willing we will walk through their pregnancy with them by directing them and sometimes accompanying them to a pregnancy medical center in their area, offering them emotional support and friendship, help them find medical care when needed and the fun part -giving them a baby shower! It is not uncommon to find a dedicated sidewalk counselor at the hospital visiting mom and baby when the baby is born! If you are interested in sidewalk counseling in our area please let us know.
