We’re honored to be featured by the Associated Press for the work we’re doing at Naturally Nurtured Birth Services supporting families—especially Medicaid clients—right here in our community.

This story highlights something we’ve always known: doula care is not a luxury. It’s essential. And when accessible, it has the power to improve outcomes, increase support, and change lives.

Through programs like Medicaid-supported doula care, more families are able to receive the physical, emotional, and advocacy support they deserve during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

We’re grateful to the families who trust us, the community that supports us, and every birth worker pushing this movement forward.

Doulas provide physical and emotional support before, during and after birth. Such care used to be seen as a luxury and was available only to those who could afford it.

🌟 Welcome our new Board Member and Legal Advisor!

Yetunde Okunade Aird, Esq. is a wife, mother, and a licensed attorney with over 10 years of practicing law. Attorney Aird grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, and she became the first attorney in her family.

Attorney Aird earned her Bachelor of Science in Finance and a minor in Psychology from Indiana University. Afterwards, Attorney Aird earned her Juris Doctor from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis. Attorney Aird and her family moved back to Memphis during the pandemic to assist her community.

Attorney Aird has been licensed to practice law in Indiana since 2014 and in Tennessee since 2020. Over the years, she has worked as a solo practitioner, worked for non-profits, worked for government agencies and in private firms. Feedback from her colleagues and clients have been consistently positive because of her work ethic while exceeding expectations.

Attorney Aird looks forward to being a board member and legal advisor for Naturally Nurtured Birth Services.

Doulas are not just for assisting birthing parents who want a med free, all natural home birth - although they can certainly be great for that! They can help with all types of deliveries, and the services they can provide extend far beyond backrubs and deep breathing assistance during labor. Doula care can be transformative for mothers giving birth by c-section, allowing parents to make the most of the special newborn period by helping out with the challenges of c-section deliveries.
