Bluff City Feral Friends - TNR and Feral Cat Advocacy Bluff City Feral Friends is a feral/community cat advocacy and TNR organization in Memphis, Tenn. CAN YOU TRAP FOR ME? Again, we are happy to provide guidance.

Our Mission is Two-Fold: 1) To help end overpopulation of cats in the Memphis area by promoting TNR (trap, neuter, and return) of feral/community cats and engaging the public in this process by providing information and resources needed for individuals to take action. 2) To advocate for the humane treatment of feral/community cats through education on TNR and feral/community cats. WHAT WE CAN DO:


-- Provide guidance and information on resources to implement TNR
-- Advocate for cats and their caregivers in disputes over feeding/TNR of community cats
-- Provide financial assistance for spay/neuter of community cats, when funds are available. WE CANNOT:
-- Trap for you
-- Relocate community cats
-- Take kittens and cats

FAQs:

WHY TNR? With TNR, feral cats are humanely trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, given any other critical care needed, and returned to their original location. The breeding stops and the behaviors associated with mating stops (spraying, fighting, and yowling). We DO NOT remove feral cats from your neighborhood, place of business, or lend traps for you to take cats to any animal service to be euthanized. TNR is the only effective, humane, and long-term solution for controlling feral cat populations. Due to the number of requests we receive and our small volunteer base, we are limited in what hands-on assistance we can provide. We can, however, provide you with the information and resources you will need to implement TNR and make a difference in community cats' lives and are happy to provide guidance. If there are more than a few cats that need to be TNRd in your neighborhood or workplace, the best way to make the quickest impact and avoid new litters of kittens is to get others -- neighbors or co-workers -- involved in the process. WHAT CLINICS WILL SPAY/NEUTER COMMUNITY CATS? In the Memphis area, Spay Memphis, a low-cost, not-for-profit spay/neuter clinic, is the clinic we use and the one we always recommend for community cat spay/neuter. CAN YOU TAKE KITTENS OR CATS? As a TNR organization, Bluff City Feral Friends' funds are designated for spay/neuter of community cats and care of our community cat colonies. We do not have the financial or volunteer resources to operate as a rescue and cannot take in kittens or cats.

Once a scared little kitten in a trap, Logan is now a beloved companion of one of our Bluff City volunteers. Our goal is to do what's best for each cat or kitten we meet. For kittens like Logan who are young enough to be socialized and for stray, socialized adults, that means working with our rescue partners to find them forever indoor homes. For truly feral cats, we have them spayed/neutered and return them to their outdoor home, where they are happiest, and ensure they have shelter, food, and water every day.
