Celebrating Jasmine Bernard, 2026 Keeper of the Dream Award Recipient!
The National Civil Rights Museum’s Keeper of the Dream Award recognizes outstanding youth in grades 9–12 who take action and champion equal rights and opportunities for others. This honor parallels the Museum’s prestigious Freedom Award and uplifts young leaders who are already transforming their communities.
This year, we proudly celebrate Jasmine Bernard (), a senior at University High School and a powerful youth environmental justice activist. Jasmine has co-led more than ten rallies, protests, and community actions advocating for data center moratoriums and community input in development. Through her work with Tigers Against Pollution, Memphis Community Against Pollution, and Young, Gifted, and Green, she co-founded Youth Minds United and Youth Action Network 901, engaging hundreds of young people and drawing national attention to environmental justice in Memphis.
Jasmine also serves as UHS Student Government President, National Honor Society Vice President, soccer captain, is part of the LeadOne Student Executive Board at REACH Memphis, and founder of the UHS Student Leaders Collective.
Jasmine was honored at the 2026 Freedom Award Student Forum on October 1, 2026, where recipients receive a $500 award, a Keeper of the Dream trophy, and a one-year Museum Family Membership.
We’re inspired by Jasmine’s leadership, courage, and commitment to building a more just future. Congratulations, Jasmine! We are very proud of you!
