Scouting America Outfitters starting August 1 2026, Scouts that complete the requirements for the Recruiter Strip can receive it for free from our the Scout Shop. Here is how to redeem for this recognition:

To earn this free strip, the Scout simply brings a friend to a Den or Pack meeting and encourages them to join. Once that friend signs up, the original Scout completes the information on the back of the postcard/flyer and brings it to their nearest Scout Shop.

Post cards will be available in the new youth welcome packets and they will be in online orders from Scoutship.org.

On August 5th, additional merit badges were added to the Bluff City Merit Badge College to take place on August 29th at both the University of Memphis and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. These additions will take place at UTHSC:

🐾 Veterinary Medicine (Block B)
🏃 Personal Fitness (Block A)
🏋️ Athletics (Block B)

Scouts and their parents expect all Scouting America activities to be conducted safely. To ensure the safety of participants, Scouting America expects leaders to use the four points of SAFE when delivering the Scouting program.

S = Supervision
This activity will be supervised by trustworthy and qualified leaders who set an example for safety.

A = Assessment
Activities are assessed for risks during planning. Leaders must review this document and ensure that risk avoidance or mitigation is incorporated into the activity..

F = Fitness and Skill
Participants’ Annual Health and Medical Records are reviewed, and leaders have confirmed that prerequisite fitness and skill levels exist for participants to take part safely.

Laser tag may require moderate levels of running, walking, skipping, ducking, and twisting.

E = Equipment and Environment
Ensure participants use only safe and appropriately sized equipment. Leaders should periodically check equipment and the environment for changing conditions that could affect safety.

All participants must use taggers, vests, headbands, wrist sensors, and safety cables provided by the commercial laser tag facility. The use of personal equipment is not allowed.
Participants can choose to wear athletic clothing for the event. Closed-toe shoes are required.

Scouting America's Military Family Fee Waiver helps make membership more accessible to eligible youth whose parent or guardian currently serves on Active Duty, in the Reserve, or in the National Guard.

For military families navigating moves, deployments, or changing schools, Scouting offers consistency through friendship, outdoor adventure, leadership development, and service to others.

The waiver applies to the national youth registration fee for eligible members. Local council fees, unit dues, optional add-ons, and processing fees may still apply.

If your family may qualify, contact the Chickasaw Council to learn how to complete the verification process and receive your registration code.
