A Step Ahead Foundation We provide free birth control options, health education, & an annual scholarship for Memphians. Any woman with a Shelby County zip code qualifies.

A Step Ahead Foundation will pay for the costs of 3 types of long term, reversible birth control. NEXPLANON IMPLANT (Lasts 3 years)
MIRENA IUD (Lasts 5 years)
PARAGARD IUD (Lasts 10 years)

Any of these methods can be removed (free of charge) at any time for any reason. For more information about these types of birth control, visit our website. In accordance with Tennessee state law women under the age of 13 must have parental consent.

Our Volunteer and Event Coordinator, Anna Ashworth’s, facial expression shows just how grateful and excited we are after receiving hygiene products from the Grizz Community! 😱

Right after receiving the donation, we hosted a Partners in Prevention (PiP) session! We shared more about our mission and explored ways we can continue working together to make a meaningful impact in Memphis.

We also learned more about how the Grizzlies Foundation is creating opportunities for youth through mentorship and community connection, helping prepare students for success in college, career, and life. That’s right up our alley! 💚

April was Volunteer Appreciation Month, and we couldn’t let it pass without celebrating the incredible people who help make our mission possible. 🎉

Here’s some fun facts about our volunteers in 2025:
💚 508 total volunteers
💚 46 community events were attended by volunteers
💚 760 hours generously donated
💚 $26,440.40 estimated value of volunteer service

So far in 2026, we have trained 436 volunteers!

Here are a few more moments from our Spring Fundraiser at Hattiloo Theatre that we couldn’t keep to ourselves. 💚

One of our favorite parts of the afternoon was getting to celebrate and connect with so many familiar faces. Shoutout to our Crosstown Concourse neighbor, Darious Robertson, who many may know as the owner of The Juice Joint and who also plays Levee in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. We love seeing people who pour into Memphis in more ways than one! ✨
