A Step Ahead Foundation We provide free birth control options, health education, & an annual scholarship for Memphians. Any woman with a Shelby County zip code qualifies.

A Step Ahead Foundation will pay for the costs of 3 types of long term, reversible birth control. NEXPLANON IMPLANT (Lasts 3 years)
MIRENA IUD (Lasts 5 years)
PARAGARD IUD (Lasts 10 years)

Any of these methods can be removed (free of charge) at any time for any reason. For more information about these types of birth control, visit our website. In accordance with Tennessee state law women under the age of 13 must have parental consent.

We’re no strangers to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis, but we had the opportunity to sit down with their team for a Partners in Prevention (PiP) session! 💚

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis is focused on helping young people reach their full potential and become productive, caring, and responsible citizens. That goal aligns with our own mission of empowering women in Memphis and Shelby County with the resources and knowledge they need to plan their lives, futures, and babies.

During our meeting, we shared an overview of our mission and resources, talked through the Boys & Girls Clubs’ current priorities and programming, and discussed opportunities for our organizations to continue working together.

We’re glad to have community partners who understand the importance of giving teens the support they need to make informed decisions about their futures. 😀

Who knew we could be in two places at once? 🐯

We were at the University of Memphis Community Engagement Fair when we got the best surprise: running into Lauren, one of our Step Ahead Scholarship recipients!

Seeing a familiar face reminded us why opportunities to connect with college students are so important. We were able to share information about our FREE health education programs, annual scholarship, and FREE long-acting reversible birth control (LARC) services with students who may not have known our resources were available.

We also spent that same day at the University of Memphis School of Public Health Fall 2026 Career & Resource Fair! Connecting with future public health professionals gives us an opportunity to introduce them to the resources we offer so they can share that information with the people they’ll serve in our community. 💙

We hosted a workshop at the Tennessee Juvenile Court Services Conference at the The Peabody Memphis! 💚

During the session, we highlighted our:
✨ FREE long-acting reversible contraception (LARC)
✨ FREE reproductive health education
✨ Annual scholarship for women in Memphis

Because the Juvenile Court works closely with teens and families, they are in a unique position to connect people with resources they may not know are available. Sharing our resources gives them another tool to support the reproductive health, education, and future goals of the families they serve. And that’s what we’re all about!

One second, it’s just us at the table… and the next, we’re surrounded by curious teens! 👏🏽

We’ve attended the Southern Heritage Classic College & Career Fair hosted by the Memphis Office of Youth Services for years, and we’re always amazed by how many teens we get to connect with throughout the event.

This video is just a very short glimpse of the teens we got to see and share information with about our FREE birth control, FREE health education services, and annual Step Ahead Scholarship. ✨
