Eight years without our beautiful Helen James feels impossible.

Some days it feels like I am am missing a limb. Her loss still knocks the breathe out of me. It is a reality I still do not want to accept, and there is a helplessness in trying to explain to our son, George, that his sister is in heaven.

Every June I am taken back to the day she died. I play it over and over in my head and feel the same devastation. But, I also replay the three precious days that we had with her at the hospital. What a gift those days were. When I hear stories of families who only had minutes with their baby, my heart breaks for them.

Helen has inspired me, Joel and our family to take the tragedy and of losing her and use it for good. I could have never imagined the impact her little life would have across the country and world. It warms my heart to know she is looking down and giving us the strength to help other families who are facing the unimaginable. She has inspired my sister to build not only a career in the loss world, but form lasting relationships and friendships that have connected us with an entire network that we did not fully realize existed.

On the days that I want to retreat into my sadness I do my best to take a step back and thank God for giving us the strength to honor her, to keep going and to do everything that we can to ensure families experiencing loss receive the support, dignity and and resources they deserve.

Thank you, Helen James, for the gift of you. We love you, we miss you, and we remember you always and forever. 💗

We are thrilled to share some exciting news!

As we approach June 5, a day that will always hold special meaning for our family as we remember and celebrate Helen's 8th birthday, it feels especially fitting to announce the next chapter for The Helen James Foundation.

For the first time, our Annual Golf Tournament is coming to Alabama! We are excited to bring our largest fundraiser of the year to Dothan Country Club on Monday, September 14.

What began as a way to honor Helen's life has grown into a community of supporters helping make a meaningful difference for families around the world. Through your support, The Helen James Foundation has helped expand access to bereavement care and resources for families across the United States and throughout Latin America.

We are so grateful for everyone who has helped carry Helen's legacy forward and cannot wait to gather with our Alabama community this September.

As we wrap up 2025, we pause to say thank you to all of our generous donors and supporters. The Helen James Foundation would not be possible without you.

We were overwhelmed by the incredible turnout for our 5th Annual Helen James Foundation Golf Tournament in September, and our hearts continue to be full. Through your support, the foundation has provided a meaningful platform for our friends and family to speak openly about the importance of bereavement care and the life-changing impact it can have on families like ours who have experienced the loss of a child.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us keep Helen’s memory alive and for honoring the legacy of our beautiful daughter, Helen James.💗
