✍️Planning has started for a new mixed-use development in Uptown.

The CRA was selected to receive visioning and conceptual design services through a partnership with NJIT and Yale Urban Design Workshop.

Developer JEL Developments has proposed a grocery store, commercial and retail spaces, and residential units on this 3.3-acre vacant site at 544 Jackson Ave.

🎉This morning, the Klondike neighborhood unveiled a historical marker at 923 Mansfield Street. This home was gifted to Tom Lee in 1927 after he rescued 32 people on the Mississippi River.

“Tom Lee is one of the individuals that helped us shape our great city," Mayor Paul Young expressed during the ceremony. "At a time when race relations were not at their best, to say it nicely, he risked his life to save the lives of others, not knowing whether they would have done the same for him… This is a great occasion to be able to acknowledge the legacy that he’s had to our community.”
