Over the years, the CRA has showcased contractors clearing heavy overgrowth that forced residents to walk in the street and attracted illegal dumping. You may remember two of our most striking right-of-way and sidewalk transformations on Tully Street and Wells Avenue near Manassas High School.

We have an exciting update. The CRA has acquired several new properties, including some that were sources of the overgrowth. Robinson Tree Service, World Tree Service , and Affordable Lawn Care have been put into action to attack the "roots" of the issue.

Clearing these and other newly acquired properties also means the CRA's Essential Housing Program will soon have new, appealing properties available for development.

🎉 GROUNDBREAKING TODAY!

Terica Lamb of Electrify Me, LLC and Tamara Brown of 93 Octane, LLC are the first women developers in the Essential Housing program to reach this stage. Both graduated from the 2025 Emerging Developers Academy, which helped prepare them to move their projects forward. They are building homes at 929 and 941 Leon Place to expand homeownership opportunities in Uptown.

This event is about more than breaking ground—it celebrates strong partnerships, investment, and the creation of new, quality affordable homeownership opportunities in Memphis.
