When did you last think about water? For 1.8 billion people, it isn't filling up your newest trendy water bottle that matches your outfit. It's a walk. A long one. Women and girls mostly, spend about 250 million hours a day(everyone combined) :) worldwide, making it — in two out of three households, fetching
water.

Awimon village, pictured in the reel, sits in Omoro District, northern Uganda. Until this month the whole community drew from one source that flooded every rainy season with
whatever was on the ground around it. Sarah one of the women who you'll hear in this video,describes what that did to people.

On the 10th of August a drilling crew placed a well.. There's a moment about halfway through where the water comes up out of the ground for the first time. Watch the people standing around it. That well now gives more than 300 people access to water. For life.

It is not every day you get the chance to do something that changes a community for a generation. Almost nothing you can give money to actually does that.

Water does.It is life. It is sustainability, It is health.

A well costs $3,500. That sounds like something only a foundation can write. It isn't. It's 350 people giving $10 a month,

We want to tell you about a community of people.

Before this well, families collected drinking water from an open puddle — the same water animals wade through. One in four people on Earth still drinks water like this.

But here's what the fundraising posts don't usually show you: this village did their part FIRST. They cleared the site. They dug the supply trench by hand. They organized a maintenance team. Everything was ready, when it was time to drill for the life flowing water. And because people give in different ways, the community gave with their hands others gave dollars, $3,500, to be exact, water flowed.

Water is still flowing there. It will serve 300+ people for the rest of their lives.

That's what collective giving does. And it's why we're launching Drop by Drop — our monthly giving crew. 350 people at $10 a month funds a well like this one every single month. Not when a campaign goes viral. Every month, on a schedule.

Turn on your faucet. Count to four.

In the time it took clean water to hit your glass, somewhere in the world a mother started her daily walk — 30+ minutes, one way — for water that may make her children sick. 1 in 4 people on Earth still lack easy access to drinking water.

But here's the part that stopped us cold: right now, four villages in northern Uganda — Akongtwoo, Obolokome, Alongo, and Toro Turdak — have already stacked their bricks, piled their sand, and committed to feeding a drilling crew. They did their part FIRST. They're waiting on the rest of us.

One Million Wells doesn't just drill wells — they train local crews to drill, maintain, and OWN them. 1,000+ wells. 300,000+ lives. 12 countries. And $3,500 funds a complete well serving 300+ people for life — that's less than $12 a person.
