We’re honored to share that our Founder & CEO, Chima Onwuka, has been named a 2026 Leadership & Volunteer Memphis Awards – Change Maker: Adult Volunteer of the Year nominee! 🏆

This recognition is bigger than one person. It represents the heart of Grind City Cares and the volunteers, partners, supporters, and families who continue to believe in our mission and show up for our community.

We’re grateful to Leadership Memphis and Volunteer Memphis for recognizing the work being done throughout our city, and we’re excited to celebrate alongside so many incredible community leaders on September 24.

Community impact happens through collaboration. 💙

Today, Grind City Cares with a volunteer partnership with Alpha Phi Alpha was honored to partner with Sweet Cheeks Diaper Ministry to help serve more than 300 families, distributing over 30,000 diapers, wipes, Pampers, and other essential baby items to families across our community.

A heartfelt thank you to Sweet Cheeks Diaper Ministry for leading this incredible effort, and to The Hershey Company HERSHEY'S Junior League of Memphis, and Shiloh Baptist Church for helping make today’s distribution possible.

We also want to recognize the many volunteers who showed up to serve despite the unbearable heat. Your willingness to lend a hand, even helping move a disabled vehicle, and your commitment to serving others did not go unnoticed. We were honored to have Young stop by and witness the impact being made.

Every mother deserves support. Every baby deserves a chance. Every family deserves hope.

This weekend, Memphis came together for more than a race. We came together to raise awareness, provide resources, and support healthier outcomes for mothers, babies, and families throughout our community.

From healthcare professionals and volunteers to parents, children, sponsors, and supporters, every person played a role in making this day meaningful.

At Grind City Cares, we believe stronger communities begin with healthier families.

This is bigger than an event.
