The Cara Janeal Walton Scholarship proudly supports education through Scholarship and Service. On this 1st day of BLACK HISTORY MONTH ❤️💚🖤💛2026, we highlight a personal HBCU tidbit🧡about Cara.

Cara was a proud MAGNA CUM LAUDE 2020 graduate of Alabama State University🐝 in Montgomery, Alabama- a historic city in the 🥾👩🏾👨🏾‍🦱Movement.

Her appointment as an Associate Justice⚖️ in the SGA Judicial Branch during her collegiate tenure was a ⭐️proud moment for her.

I have a special place in my heart for HBCU’s and continue to support in memory of Cara and honor of those who paved the way.

😇Happy Heavenly Birthday Cara!! 🧡

🧡SPECIAL REQUEST 2026🧡

The Cara Janeal Walton Scholarship is designed to aid area students attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) with a commitment to academic excellence and service to their communities. Scholarships are offered to continuing collegiate juniors or seniors and to a graduating high school senior in the spring.

Cara firmly believed in 2 principles- Scholarship and Service. Her commitment to those principles were evident in her academic performance in both high school and college, and in her diligence serving the communities of Memphis, TN and Montgomery, AL.

Since its founding in 2020 by Cara’s mother, 1️⃣7️⃣ students have been awarded scholarships to aid in their educational pursuits at their chosen HBCU. All recipients had spirits like Cara’s- focused on scholarship and service.

Cara’s earthly journey ended at the age of 22, but her legacy lives on. Her allegiance to her family and friends, schools and community are marked by the prints she left behind through her hard work in the classroom and her tireless efforts to get residents signed up to vote. No matter if she was singing in the church choir, getting people registered to vote, helping with care of aging grandparents, or tutoring students, Cara was always present and accountable.

In that spirit, will you consider giving at least $2️⃣8️⃣ today or more if your heart moves you, to honor her memory and continue her legacy on her 28th birthday, January 16th?

Thank you in advance for your continued support and consideration.
