On behalf of the Melvin Area Economic Development Corp., we would like to extend our appreciation to the Community Foundation of Osceola County, Iowa. We were awarded $4,300 in grant funding to be used towards purchasing banners and park improvement materials for the City of Melvin’s 125th Celebration, which will be held in June. The community groups in Melvin were awarded a total of $14,300 to invest in our community. Without these grants, improvements in our small city would not be possible. A special thank you to Kay Wynja and Sarah McCarter for representing our community on the Community Foundation Board! Thanks again!

The Melvin Area Economic Development Corp. would like to thank our hostesses and our 90 guests who attended our Fall Luncheon Fund Raiser! All proceeds from the event will be given to Melvin’s 125th Celebration Committee! This was such a fun event for Melvin. Everyone present has or had a connection to Melvin in some way and the support we received will help play an important role in helping us all celebrate this historic Melvin celebration in 2026! Thanks again for all who participated!

The Melvin Area Economic Development Corp. would like to thank the Community Foundation of Osceola County, IA for awarding us $5,000 this spring to continue making improvements in Town. Earlier this summer, we posted the beautiful fencing done at the basketball court at our Melvin City Park. Also with this grant money we purchased and installed 2 privacy panels added to our Patio Park on Main. These privacy panels were created by Hirschman Fabrication of Paullina. They may be bright and shiny now, but they will slowly rust to a nice warm, patina brown in time. We want to thank our town mayor, Paul Heitritter, city council member, Mike Wynja, and just one of our good old retired buddies of Melvin, Steve Travaille, for donating their labor to install these improvements. Without the opportunity to apply for these grants from the Community Foundation of Osceola County, IA, these improvements would not be possible. Anxious to come up with a new project for next year!

The Melvin Area Economic Development Corp., along with the Melvin Public Library, Baker Township Cemetery and American Legion, would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Community Foundation of Osceola County, IA for the grants that were awarded to our Melvin organizations! Without the opportunity to apply for these grants, our projects would not be possible! This spring, the MAEDC will continue to create a safe place for our children to congregate and have fun by replacing the fencing on the basketball court at our Melvin City Park and also add some privacy panels at our Patio Park near the post office. The Melvin Area Economic Development Corp. would like to thank the Community Foundation of Osceola County, IA for awarding us $5,000 this spring to continue making improvements to our Melvin City Park. With these funds, we were able to purchase w**d barrier, rubber border for edging, and rubber mulch to place around 2 pieces of existing playground equipment. We also painted our jungle gym and stained our gazebo. We want to thank our town mayor, Paul Heitritter, city council member, Mike Wynja, and just one of the Melvin good ole guys, Steve Travaille for donating their labor to make these improvements. Without the opportunity to apply for these grants from the Community Foundation of Osceola County, IA, these improvements would not be possible.
