The purpose of the Senior Activity Center is to provide a variety of activities for the betterment of the community, including access to senior resources, social and service programs, and health and wellness programs, which support dignity and enlightenment for adults living in the Melrose School District 740 and Birch Lakes area.

The Melrose Senior Center Board would like to take this time to thank everyone for coming to the Freewill Soup Lunches. Your generous freewill donations has allowed the Senior Center to share those donations by purchasing a Main Street flower pot, a city bench, prizes for bingo, dues for Melrose Chamber of Commerce along with donations to the Melrose Museum, Riverfest, Duces Wild Concert, Christmas Kick-off, Melrose Area Arts Council (MAAC) and hosting the annual cream can supper. And a special thanks for all who have brought soup or bread for the Soup Lunches. Our next soup lunch will be in the fall. Watch the newsletter for dates.

If you are interested in taking a day tour with the Jeannie B Tours, the Center suggests the following:

June 25: “Ladies Day in Stillwater” – Paddleboat Cruise Luncheon, followed by a guided Trolley City Tours, Specialty Shops of Stillwater and Trader Joes. Cost - $155.00, due by 5/15/25.

July 7: “The Best of Johnny Cash” – featuring Jay Ernest and the Church of Cash Band – LeMusisque Theatre, St Michael. Includes lunch at Chatter’s in Monticello – coach – guide – prizes and treats. Cost $135.00, due by 6/1/25.

Aug. 7: “Juke Box 50’s, 60’s, 70’s” – Jaspers Theatre, Park Rapids, includes lunch, Free Shopportunity time in downtown Park Rapids. Show and treats and prizes on the coach. Cost $149.00, due by 6/10/25.

Reservations need to be made directly with Jeanne B Tours at 320-345-1581. The due date is the day money is due for the trips. Any questions should be directed to Jeanne at that number. Someone from Jeannie B's office will call each of you ahead of the departure date with the boarding times for each trip.

The Forever Young Choir is looking for singers. The choir is open for anyone age 50+ from communities in the Melrose area who enjoy singing with others. Rehearsals will begin on Thursday, May 22 from 3-4:30 pm, culminating with concerts in mid September. Practices will be held in the Melrose Senior Center. If you know anyone interested, please share. Plant Exchange - Saturday, May 17 from 9-11 in the Melrose City Hall parking lot. Anyone and everyone is invited to bring any plants from your yard/garden that you are thinning, etc. Take as many plants as you like. You do NOT need to bring plants to take plants. If you have any plants to give away, have them to the Melrose City Hall parking lot by 9 . Master Gardener Jim Beaver will be on hand to answer your gardening and flower questions.
