Hello Friends!! It’s going to be another great night for high school football tonight!! Beautiful weather, a great team, fantastic fans, and of course - the Melrose Red Hot Red Hawks Marching Band!! So come down to Fred Green Memorial Field and help cheer on the team to victory!!

Sadly, as everyone knows by now, last weekend’s Home Show for the Melrose Marching Band was cancelled. In spite of this hugely disappointing turn of events, the Bandaiders Board and our amazing volunteers made the best of it with the help of our “Celebrity Guest Chef” Mike Snow who was scheduled to help on the grille for the afternoon. Mike is not only the owner of Hannah’s Brewing, he’s also competitive pit master AND an alumni of the Melrose High Marching Band and Drumline. Mike spent all morning smoking and grilling brisket, steak, and sausages, and then invited the Marching Band community down to Hannah’s for a small feast!! HUGE Thanks to you Mike (and your sister Colleen) for your incredible support!!!

We regret to inform everyone that due to the impending nor’easter, this weekends Home Show has been canceled. Thank you to all the supporters and volunteers who were planning on coming. We look forward to seeing everyone at the next competition or home football game.

Scenes from last night’s football game. Unfortunately, Melrose lost to Danvers 17 to 10, but it was a great night for some football and some fun. Last night’s theme was red, white, and blue - and the students showed up accordingly!!

Hello friends, families, and fellow Melrosians! If you missed last night’s varsity football home opener at the Fred Greene field - then I don’t know to tell you this - but you missed a missed A LOT.

The night started with a beautiful and deeply moving tribute to Raymond “Ray” Rocha - Melrose High School Class of ‘90 - who was killed in the attack on the North Tower on September 11th, 2001. Ray’s friends and family members joined Mayor Jen Grigoriatis, Melrose High School Principal Jason Merill, and Varsity Football Coach Tim Morris to pay tribute to him.

You also missed the chance to watch an absolutely spectacular football game played on an a perfect late summer New England evening. Huge shout out to the football team and their coaches for their big win over Reading (35 to 14)!!!

And fear not friends!! You still have many more chances this season to come enjoy some great football and support the players, the cheer squad, the Boosters and the Lions - and of course everyone’s favorite marching band - the Red Hot Red Hawks!!
