Melrose Seeks High School Junior for Cultural Council Student Member🎉
Not exclusive to those studying or making art - passionate Juniors interested in community betterment, those looking to gain first hand experience in local government and civic engagement, and those who want to develop valuable skills in communication, problem-solving, and collaboration, should apply.
The Melrose Cultural Council is excited to announce an outstanding opportunity for a Melrose High School rising junior to make their voice heard, have a direct impact on the Melrose arts community, gain valuable volunteer experience for their college application resume and earn Community Service hours for graduation. Student members develop leadership skills while guiding the council on student priorities and needs in Melrose. This position also provides the opportunity to engage and educate their peers, staff, and faculty about the council’s advocacy and grant-making program.
Student members have the unique chance to participate in discussions on important arts and culture community matters, and bring forward the views and concerns of Melrose's youth.
This is a two-year term to begin in September 2025. The council meets once a month to review and approve applications for cultural and artistic grants, work with the artists to promote their events, and to cultivate a growing and diverse creative economy and cultural community in Melrose.
To apply, students should submit a paragraph or two describing themselves and their interest in arts and culture in Melrose, and provide at least one reference that is either a teacher, coach, guidance counselor, and/or employer.
