Members of the Melrose American Legion Post 101 stopped by Melrose Boy Scout Troop 68’s meeting Monday night to present a donation to their program. The Scouts and troop leaders would like to thank the American Legion for their generous support.

It is hard to believe but Melrose Boy Scout Troop 68 has been operating for over 46 continuous years! This current troop was formed way back in December 1979. John Schofield was the scoutmaster of the new troop. He held that position for a little over a year before he stepped down. Unfortunately, being the police officer in town was taking too much of his time to remain as scoutmaster. Since then seven men have served as scoutmaster.

Rearranged things a little at the Melrose Area Museum today to add one missing Eagle Scout photo and create room for more photos. There could be four or more added in the next year or two.

The Scouts of Melrose Troop 68 had fun during the Christmas party held after the court of honor on Saturday, December 13. Several gifts were flying around the table during the dice game gift exchange. Lots of pizza was eaten.

Melrose Troop 68 held its annual troop auction following Saturday night’s court of honor. Scouts earn “troop bucks” credits by attending outings and earning merit badges and ranks. The Scouts look forward to this fun event every year.
