Happy heavenly 3rd birthday to our special angels, Ava Rose & Emma Linn. Although we're sad we can't lace up our running shoes and be with you all for another year of Love Blooms, we truly believe Ava & Emma gave us a sign back in January when we made the difficult decision not to have our race this year. With everything going on in the world right now, our number one priority is the health and safety of our family, friends, and community, and we hope you are all staying well.

We'd like to send our love and gratitude to all those impacted by this devastating COVID-19 pandemic, especially the essential workers and healthcare professionals that are putting their lives on the line so we can feel safe at home. We are truly indebted to you all.

In memory of A&E, today we will be donating to the Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome Foundation. This is a very uncertain time for so many wonderful charitable organizations, and they need our support even more during this challenging time.

If you're inspired to give back at some point, please send me a direct message and I can help you through that process. We know it's a difficult time for everyone, and we want to do our small part to help weather this storm.

Our Story

In March of 2017, we were diagnosed with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (also known as TTTS). TTTS is a condition in which the blood flows unequally between twins that share a placenta (monochorionic twins). Without intervention, TTTS can be fatal for both babies. TTTS is very uncommon, and occurs in about 10 to 15 percent of monochorionic, diamniotic (two amniotic sacs) twins. Every mother of twins sharing a placenta should be aware of the possibility of TTTS because they need to be followed more closely during the pregnancy.

TTTS can cause a host of problems, such as preterm labor, heart and respiratory failure and other birth defects. On April 17, 2017, we prematurely gave birth to two beautiful twin girls, Ava Rose and Emma Linn. Sadly, they both passed away a few hours later due to complications from TTTS, and our lives would never be the same.

We then got in touch with the TTTS Foundation, a wonderful, life-saving organization that offers support, resources and often financial assistance for families in need. We were so grateful to know we weren't alone in this fight.

As proud Melrose, Massachusetts residents, we want nothing more than to keep Ava and Emma’s memories alive and to make a difference in our community by helping to spread awareness of TTTS and offer support to those struggling with this disease. There are over 40 diagnoses of TTTS every month; many families don’t even know where to start when they learn they have this disease. With your support, we can help make a difference in the lives of families who are carrying identical twins and higher multiples through the Love Blooms 5K walk/run, which will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2019. All proceeds raised will go directly to the TTTS Foundation.
