PASO (Proyecto de Acción de los Suburbios del Oeste) West Suburban Action Project is a community-based social justice organization that works to engage community members to address issues that affect them, their families, and neighbors with the mission to build stronger communities. PASO works on on community organizing, education empowerment, leadership development, and civic participation as tools for members to develop the skills to be active, engaged participants in their communities and live dignified lives regardless of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic or immigration status. PASO serves the West Cook Suburbs, in the areas of Melrose Park, Stone Park, Maywood, Bellwood, Northlake and Franklin Park.

Hoy vivimos una jornada llena de alegría, unión y oportunidades. Celebramos el talento de nuestros emprendedores latinos y el apoyo de una comunidad que impulsa sus negocios. También ofrecimos servicios de vacunación, entregamos regalos de Halloween a los niños y reunimos a organizaciones que, junto con P.A.S.O., compartieron servicios, recursos y beneficios para nuestra comunidad. ¡Además, disfrutamos de rifas y muchas sonrisas! 🎃🎁🎉

Today was filled with joy, unity, and opportunities. We celebrated the talent of our Latino entrepreneurs and the support of a community that helps their businesses thrive. We also offered vaccination services, gave Halloween gifts to children, and brought together organizations that, alongside P.A.S.O., shared valuable services, resources, and benefits with our community. We also enjoyed raffles and lots of smiles! 🎃🎁🎉

Nadie debería tener que enfrentar un caso de deportación en soledad.
Desde 2022, la División de Inmigración de la Oficina del Defensor Público del Condado de Cook ha acompañado a cientos de inmigrantes que, de otro modo, habrían tenido que comparecer ante un fiscal del gobierno sin ningún abogado. Pero con solo 12 abogados y una demanda que sigue en aumento, demasiadas familias están quedando sin atención.
📣 Únase a nosotros para pedirle a la presidenta Preckwinkle y a la Junta de Comisionados: financien la expansión de la División de Inmigración de la Oficina del Defensor Público del Condado de Cook.
No one should have to face a deportation case alone.
Since 2022, the Immigration Division of the Cook County Public Defender’s Office has stood alongside hundreds of immigrants who otherwise would have had to appear in court against a government prosecutor without an attorney. But with only 12 attorneys and demand continuing to grow, too many families are being left without representation.
