Something powerful is coming to Melissa—and you can be part of it.

Neighbors, churches, businesses, students, and community organizations will come together to package nutritious meals for people facing hunger around the world.

It’s called Melissa Packs Hope, and our goal is simple: turn one day of service into thousands of meals and countless reasons to hope.

More information is coming soon. For now, mark March 6, 2027, on your calendar and invite someone to join you.

The Interact Club of Melissa kicked off the new school year by participating in the annual Chalk the Walk event at Melissa High School. Club members spent time creating colorful and encouraging sidewalk messages to welcome students and staff back for an exciting year of learning, growth, and achievement.

The event provided a wonderful opportunity for Interact members to demonstrate their commitment to service and school spirit while helping create a positive and uplifting atmosphere for the first day of school. We were also delighted to have Ms. Hare join in the fun, adding her creativity and support to the project.

Thank you to all of the Interact Club members and Ms. Hare for helping make Melissa High School a welcoming place for everyone. We look forward to a fantastic year ahead filled with service, leadership, and community involvement!

🦋 **YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE!**

Our latest Melissa Rotary gathering was anything but ordinary.

Guest speaker **Margaret Ferguson** opened our eyes to the incredible journey of the Monarch butterfly — including the fact that their migration brings them right through our part of Texas along the I-35 **“Monarch Highway.”**

We learned. We laughed. We talked about how something as simple as planting the right flowers and milkweed can make a real difference.

But here’s the part we really want you to know:

**Rotary isn’t just meetings. It’s people. It’s friendships. It’s discovering something new. It’s finding simple ways to make our community — and our world — a little better.**

And sometimes… apparently… it includes some pretty impressive butterflies! 🦋

**How can something we plant in our own backyard help it survive?**

This Thursday at ourMelissa Rotary Club luncheon, we’re welcoming **Margaret Ferguson**, Public Image Director, of the Waco Sunrise Rotary Club for a fascinating program about the **Monarch butterfly**.

Margaret will share the remarkable story of the monarch’s life cycle and migration, including how several generations of butterflies take part in a journey that stretches across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

We’ll also learn why **milkweed is so important to monarchs**, what threatens their habitat, and some simple things ordinary homeowners and communities can do to help.

This is one of those subjects that reminds us how connected our own neighborhoods are to something much bigger.

If you enjoy nature, gardening, conservation—or you’re simply curious about one of the most amazing travelers in the natural world—I think you’ll enjoy this program.
