Tower 71, Engine 71 and Heavy 70 trained on high angle extrication techniques. This training simulated an extrication that required a far drop or possibly hanging over a bridge. Crews developed this training exercise based off of accidents that have happened across the country to better prepare for this unique circumstance. MFD works hard to be prepared for any and all calls for service! 🔥

🔥 Peer Support Spotlight – Melbourne Fire Department 🔥

This week we’re highlighting Billy, a dedicated member of Melbourne Fire Department with 14 years of service. He currently serves as an ARFF-certified Driver/Engineer Paramedic and Acting Lieutenant assigned to Engine 73.

Off duty, Billy is a family man—happily married to his wife Tanna and a proud dad to Morrigan (8) and Finnegan (6). When he’s not on shift, you’ll likely find him diving into his favorite “nerd stuff,” from comic conventions to Warhammer 40k and 3D printing.

Billy brings experience, humor, and a steady presence to the team—and yeah… he’s alright. 👊

Yesterday Heavy 70 and engine 76 extricated 1 patient on US1 that was entrapped. The doors and roof had to be removed to make access and safely remove the patient for transport by BCFR.

TW71, H70, E72, E71, E76, D70 and D74 responded to a structure fire today in 71s first due. Crews worked together to quickly extinguish the fire and search the residence 🔥

03/25/2026

Engine 78 was first on scene of a 2 story apartment complex fire yesterday. Their quick actions contained the fire to the laundry room and saved the units from further damage. Melbourne Fire Department’s rapid response and highly trained individuals make Melbourne a better place every day!

January’s peer support spotlight!

Jack has been with Melbourne Fire Department for 9 years and is a driver engineer/acting lieutenant. Jack loves being with his family and enjoying simple things like sports, hunting & anything involving his 2 sons. He and his wife Kyla share a 4 year old son Hawk, and a 2 year old son named River. On top of the fire department, Jack also owns his own pressure washing company, and a pool fence company that keep him busy.
