New Year Brings New Pet Laws To Florida
Florida’s state legislature has approved two bills that provide pet owners more protection and better transparency, effective January 1, 2026. HB and SB 655 focus on regulating how pet insurance providers and pet health care providers market pet insurance products to consumers. Additionally, Gov. Ron DeSantis has proposed legislation to more closely regulate pet breeders and pet stores regarding the operation of puppy mills in the Sunshine State. Trooper’s Law deals with abandoning and/or restraining dogs during times of state emergencies such as hurricanes.
