We had a busy weekend around here, and it ended with two new faces we can't wait for you to meet. Welcome to the Touch of Grey Rescue family, Koa and Nutella! 🐾

First up is Koa. This little 10-pound guy came to us in rough shape, so severely matted that, heartbreakingly, the matting had cut off circulation and disconnected one of his feet from his ankle.

And yet… you'd never know it from his spirit. Koa is one of the happiest, most trusting boys you'll ever meet. He's active, friendly, gets the zoomies, and comes running for attention every chance he gets. He loves to play, loves to cuddle with his fosters, and clearly has no plans to let anything slow him down. He's proof that these dogs can endure unimaginable hardships and just keep loving anyway.

Then there's sweet Nutella. She came to us after the shelter discovered she had pyometra, a serious and life-threatening infection of the uterus that, left untreated, can quickly become fatal. It's exactly the kind of situation where getting a dog out of the shelter and into care can mean the difference between life and death.

Now that she's safe, Nutella is showing us what a lovebug she is. She wants to be as close to you as she can possibly get, curled up and snuggled in. She's a little more hesitant at first, but earn her trust and you've got the sweetest girl. Her fosters gave her a much-needed bath before taking her home for all the love and snuggles she's been missing.

Two more lives, two more second chances, all because this community keeps showing up. 💛

Koa and Nutella still have some healing ahead, but they're exactly where they need to be now: safe, loved, and finally home.

Follow along for updates on these two on our website and our new Instagram .

Sunday Story: Simply Bart ❤️🐾

Oh, Bart…for a dog we thought might only have a day or two, you have made quite an impression.

But more than that, Bart reminds every one of us why we do what we do. He’s living proof of the miracles that can happen when an old dog is given a little love, a whole lot of TLC, and the chance to show us he isn’t finished yet.

When we first met him, Bart was heartworm positive, battling an upper respiratory infection, and X-rays showed such severe osteoarthritis that on his initial vet appointment, euthanasia was recommended within the coming days.

But then Bart started feeling better. He started playing. And he started showing us a zest for life that we simply could not ignore.

Today, Bart has captured the heart of just about everyone who walks through the doors of The Landing.

Because of his age and significant mobility issues, we’ve decided not to put him through traditional heartworm injections. Instead, we’re managing his heartworm disease with the slow-kill method while putting our resources where Bart needs them most: keeping him comfortable, mobile, happy, and enjoying his life.

Bart has recently started visiting Treasure Coast Animal Rehab & Fitness for physical therapy, massage, and other therapies as needed, and we’re working to add even more professionals to Team Bart.

His care includes prescription food, medications, regular injections, rehabilitation, and ongoing veterinary care…and it adds up quickly.

Some might consider this level of care “above and beyond.”

For us, it’s simply the promise we make when we take a dog into Touch of Grey Rescue. We don’t measure success by how many days we can give them. We measure it by what those days feel like.

Bart is just one old soul who was given a new beginning…and he represents so many more who will come after him.

So for this Sunday Story, we’re not only celebrating Bart. We are asking you to simply be part of his story. ❤️

Every donation helps us continue his care and make the same promise to the next old soul who needs us. That for however long they have left, we’re going to make it as good as it can be.

Stop by, roll the dice, win some prizes, grab one last delicious treat, and help us show this amazing local business just how much their kindness means to us. Please share!

☕🐾 Calling all dog-loving seniors! 🐾☕

For the very first time, we’re opening Coffee, Crafts & Canines at The Landing to the public on Tuesday, September 1 — and we only have 7 spots available!

If you have a mom, dad, grandparent, neighbor, friend (or you’re 65+ yourself) who could use a fun morning out, send them our way. 🩶

Coffee, Crafts & Canines is all about slowing down, connecting, and enjoying the simple things: a little coffee, light refreshments, an easy craft, good conversation, and plenty of time hanging out with some of our sweet senior dogs. 🐶

⏰ ATTENTION FOSTERS (Brevard County, FL) WE NEED YOU! ⏰

There are two sweet seniors sitting in shelter right now, running out of time, and we would give anything to say yes to both of them… but we can't do it without somewhere for them to land.

Meet Nara. She's an 8-year-old mixed breed girl; she has some medical needs we'd love to get on top of (mostly skin and ear issues) some dental, and a heart murmur we'd want to keep an eye on. But underneath all that, she is a social, people-loving girl who seeks out attention and isn't shy about letting you know she wants a little affection. She's a bit unsure with pushy dog greetings, so she'd do best with slow, gentle introductions, but she clearly just wants to be loved.

And then there's Rocky. This one breaks our heart. Rocky is 13 years old and landed in the shelter because his owner passed away, and the next of kin couldn't take him. He's mostly blind, can see a few shadows on his right side, and has some skin issues that are already improving with treatment. Because he can't see well, he can startle easily and needs a patient person who will move slowly to earn his trust. But the shelter staff will tell you, once Rocky knows you're a friend (and you've got a treat or two), he licks your hand, wags his tail, and shows off every trick he knows. He just wants to feel safe.

The harsh reality is that we get hundreds of requests for help, and we can only say YES when there's a foster ready to open their door. The Landing was never meant to replace foster homes, and it can only hold a few dogs at a time. Foster homes are how we save lives. 🤍

Touch of Grey provides the medical care, the supplies, and the support. You provide the safe place to land and the love.

If you've fostered with us before… now would be a really good time to come back. And if you've been thinking about it but haven't taken the leap, these two are exactly why we need you.

Open your home. Save a life. Make room for the next one. 🐾

🌈 Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day 🌈

Many people know Tucker as the inspiration behind our logo and our brand ambassador during the early years of Touch of Grey Rescue.

Tucker originally came to us on a transport van from a high-kill shelter in Kentucky.

And within moments of walking into our house for the very first time, he lifted his leg and peed on our stairs. From that moment on, he became our Main Mother Tucker - a pain in the butt in the absolute best way possible.

He would door-dash outside every chance he got, was basically a stomach on legs, and would start barking promptly at 4 PM to remind us that dinner was overdue.

As he entered his senior years, Tucker slowed down a little, but he never stopped being a foster brother. More than 100 rescue dogs came through our home during his lifetime, and Tucker helped shape the rescue that exists today.

He may have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but he continues to inspire everything we do. 🐾

Today, we’d love to remember your beloved pets too. Share a photo and their name in the comments, and if you’re able, consider making a donation to Touch of Grey Rescue in their honor so their memory can help another senior or special-needs dog get the second chance they deserve.

See you at the bridge Mother Tucker 💙

We want to introduce someone special this week… meet Little Brother, our 98.5 The Beach Adoptable Dog of the Week. 🥰

He's a 10-year-old Chihuahua Mix, and we'll be honest with you, he's a nervous little guy. He's not a fan of storms (we don't blame him!) and takes a bit to warm up to new people. When he first came to us, he mostly just wanted to disappear into the background.

But with a little time, a little patience, and a calm place to land, and he slowly started to trust us. And once that happened, we got to meet the real Little Brother: a gentle, sweet, tender-hearted boy who loves nothing more than being outside in the fresh air. He's even settled right in with his foster's dogs, he adores her female pup and politely puts up with the male one.

What he needs now is a quiet home and a patient person, someone who won't rush him and will let him come out of his shell in his own time. Do that for him, and I promise you'll have one of the most loving little shadows you could ask for.

He's waited long enough. Maybe you're the person he's been waiting for. 💛

Thank you to 98.5 The Beach for helping our seniors find their way home. 🐾

You can find Little Brother, and all our adoptable dogs, on our website (link in the comments). And come follow along on our new Instagram .
