PSA: This hot weather has made our little black and yellow fellows very active. Yellow jackets are especially aggressive near their nests and will attack if they feel threatened. Be extra cautious around covered sheds, equipment that hasn't been used in a while and other areas that may be hiding a nest. It's always better to try to ignore them and walk away from the area. If you get stung, ice the area and take some Benadryl for the itching and ibuprofen for the swelling. If you get stung on the hand be sure and remove any rings or other jewelry in the event you start swelling. Be aware of any difficulty breathing, swelling of the throat or mouth area as these could be indicators you are allergic to the venom. Call 9-1-1 if you have these symptoms are having a difficult time breathing.

MRW would like to thank, Brendan Jerney and Tristin Barfoot (owner of Cattleman Fencing) for recovering our crashed tender. They managed to get it back on its wheels and are in the process of getting it out of the wilderness area. Tristin provided his company's skid steer to pull the tender back onto its wheel. Great job guys!

On Saturday, 7/25/26, MRW, Melba, Marsing and Upper Deer Flat fire responded to the BLM area of Kane Springs between Rabbit Creek Rd and Upper Reynolds Rd for the report of a brush fire. Prelim investigations shows it was started by an ATV crash. The units were later joined by BLM units and BLM assumed command of the fire. Local units were on scene Sat & Sun assisting with the fire. Kudos to all units for preventing the fire from jumping Rabbit Creek Rd and endangering the homes in the area. Everyone fought hard to contain this fire to the area off Rabbit Creek Rd. Approx. 5000 acres of brush and grass were destroyed. MRW would like to thank our mutual aid partners and our firefighters and EMTs for their response and assistance. (Pictures to follow).

This morning about 1:02 AM, MRW Command spotted flames coming from a residential home's window. (Command was en route to a medical call with EMS) Units from MRW, Melba Fire and Upper Deer Flat Fire responded and were able to stop the spread of flames before the entire structure was consumed. Actual flame damage was confined to the kitchen area and attic of the home but the structure suffered extensive heat and smoke damage. The home was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries from the fire. Preliminary investigation indicates the cause as over heated tool batteries left charging in the kitchen area. Many thanks to Melba and Upper Deer Flat Fire for their assistance. They were mainly responsible for containing this fire.
